Sioux City, Iowa
Sioux City () is a city in Woodbury and Plymouth counties in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Iowa. The population was 85,797 in the 2020 census, making it the fourth-largest city in Iowa. The bulk of the city is in Woodbury County, of which it is the county seat, though a small portion is in Plymouth County. Sioux City is located at the navigational head of the Missouri River. Brandon Wegher
Brandon Wegher ( ) (born ) is a former American football running back. He played college football for one season at the University of Iowa in 2009, rushing for 641 yards and a freshman record eight touchdowns. He also played two seasons at Morningside College in 2013–2014, where he was an NAIA national All-American. In 2014, he set a new NAIA national rushing record with 2,610 yards. His younger brother, Jack Wegher, played running back in three games during the 2016–2017 season at Purdue University. His father, Rick, played college football at South Dakota State University and then professionally in Canada. Donald Paul Wengert (born November 6, 1969) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of seven seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1995 to 2001 for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates. Trent Solsma (born 1990s) is a former college football quarterback who played for the Morningside Mustangs. Early life and college career Trent Solsma was born in the 1990s in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota. He went to high school at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School, leading them to the state championship in 2013. He set records for: passing yards (453), touchdown passes (6), total touchdowns (7, as Solsma also had a rushing score), and pass completions (23) during the championship game. He was then named to the 2013 All-Metro class. Solsma played college football at Morningside College. In his senior year, he was named the NAIA Player of the Year after throwing for 5,097 yards and 68 touchdowns, with only 6 interceptions. He also was named First-Team All-American. Mike Courey
Michael J. Courey (August 11, 1959 – December 11, 2007) was an American football player and a starting quarterback for the University of Notre Dame. He was born to a teenage mother in Watertown, South Dakota, and at five weeks of age was adopted by Michael and Helen (Schlote) Courey of Sioux City, Iowa. At Bishop Heelan Catholic High School he became an All-State athlete in football, basketball and baseball, and was a Parade All-American when he was given a football scholarship to Notre Dame in 1977. In his freshman year Courey played halfback for the national champion team, and opened eyes when he completed an option pass for 24 yards in a comeback win at Clemson. In 1978, he was moved to flanker, and in 1979 became a backup quarterback.
