The Bishop David Brown School is a mixed academy status secondary school located in Sheerwater, (Woking), Surrey, England. History Formerly the Sheerwater Secondary School, in 1982 Sheerwater merged with the Queen Elizabeth II School and changed its name to the Bishop David Brown School, named in honour of David Brown, the Church of England Bishop of Guildford from 1973–82. The school name is commonly abbreviated to BDB. Previously a community school administered by Surrey County Council, in October 2015 the Bishop David Brown School was converted to academy status and is currently designated with a specialist Performing Arts status. Bruce Foxton
Bruce Douglas Foxton (born 1 September 1955) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Foxton's music career spans more than 40 years. He came to prominence in the late 1970s as bassist and backing vocalist of mod revival band the Jam. He occasionally performed the lead vocals, such as on the songs " News of the World", " David Watts" and "Smithers-Jones". After the band's break-up, he pursued a brief solo career releasing one studio album, '' Touch Sensitive'', in 1984. The album's single "Freak" became a UK Top 20 hit in 1983. He played in several bands, including Sharp with former Jam member Rick Buckler, before joining Stiff Little Fingers in 1990. After leaving SLF in 2007, Foxton officially joined Rick Buckler and members of his tribute band, The Gift, to tour under the name From the Jam. ''Rent'' is a rock musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson, loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera ''La Bohème''. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan's East Village in the thriving days of bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The musical was first seen in a workshop production at New York Theatre Workshop in 1993. This same off-Broadway theatre was also the musical's initial home following its official 1996 opening. Woking railway station is a major stop in Woking, England, on the South West Main Line used by many commuters. It is down the line from . The station is managed by South Western Railway, who operate all trains serving it. History The London and Southampton Railway (L&SR) was authorised on 25 July 1834 and construction began in October of that year. The line was built in stages, and the first section, between the London terminus at and "Woking Common", was opened to passengers on 21 May 1838.
