Birlikte is the name and motto of a series of semi-annual rallies and corresponding cultural festivals against right-wing extremist violence in Germany, which first took place on 9 June 2014 in Cologne. The term "" is Turkish and means "together" (German: ""). Birlikte – Zusammenstehen: 7–9 June 2014 The concept of a cultural festival named "" was based on an idea by , and was further developed and supported by the Cologne Arsch huh, Zäng ussenander (English: "Raise your ass, open your mouth!") campaign. Aynur Doğan
Aynur Doğan (born 1 March 1975) is a contemporary Kurdish singer and musician from Turkey. Career Aynur Doğan was born in Çemişgezek, a small mountain town in Tunceli Province in Turkey and fled to İstanbul in 1992. She studied ''saz'' and ''türkü'' singing in an influential music school in Istanbul, the Arif Sağ Müsik. In 2004 she released the album ''Keçe Kurdan'' on Kalan Müzik label. ''Keçe Kurdan'' was banned in 2005 due to the fact that two words in the song, ''Keçe'' (Girl) and ''Ceng'' (battle), according to a court in Diyarbakır, would encourage women to leave their partners, go to the mountains and hence the words promote division. Udo Lindenberg
Udo Lindenberg (born 17 May 1946) is a German singer, drummer, and composer. Career Lindenberg started his musical career as a drummer. In 1969, he founded his first band Free Orbit, and also appeared as a studio and guest musician (with Michael Naura, Knut Kiesewetter). In 1970, he collaborated as a drummer with jazz saxophonist Klaus Doldinger in Munich. In 1971 Passport, a band founded by Doldinger, released its first album, with Lindenberg on drums. He also played drums for the theme music for the German TV series ''Tatort''. The first LP by the jazz rock group Emergency was released in 1971, but met with little commercial success. Stefan Aust (; born 1 July 1946) is a German journalist. He was the editor-in-chief of the weekly news magazine ''Der Spiegel'' from 1994 to February 2008 and has been the publisher of the conservative leading ''Die Welt'' newspaper since 2014 and the paper's editor until December 2016. Early life and education Aust was born in Stade, Lower Saxony as son of the farmer Reinhard Aust and his wife Ilse, born Hartig. Together with four siblings he grew up on a small dairy farm which his family ran until the early 1960s. Sertab Erener (born 4 December 1964) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and composer. With her coloratura soprano voice, she started working as a backing vocalist for Sezen Aksu, and with Aksu's help she released her first studio album in the 1990s. Because of her education in classical music, she initially had difficulties in performing pop music. Although she did experimental works from time to time, she eventually preferred to focus on making pop music instead of making avant-garde works, in order to make her music heard by a larger audience. Wolfgang Niedecken
Wolfgang Niedecken (, ; born 30 March 1951) is a German singer and musician. He founded the Kölsch-speaking rock group BAP at the end of the 1970s and soon became famous with BAP all over Germany. He is the lead singer and only remaining founding member of BAP. Biography Niedecken attended boarding school in Rheinbach from 1961 to 1970. From 1966 onwards, he played in the school band ''The Convikts'' and ''The Troop''. He studied art at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, graduating in 1974 after a short-term exchange in New York with Howard Kanovitz and Larry Rivers. He remains an active painter who both designs most of the covers of the BAP albums and holds exhibitions of his work. He suffered a stroke on 3 November 2011. Nail Bomb Attack In Cologne
On 9 June 2004, a nail bomb detonated in Cologne, Germany, in a business area popular with immigrants from Turkey. Twenty-two people were wounded, with four sustaining serious injuries. A barber shop was destroyed; many shops and numerous parked cars were seriously damaged by the explosion and by the nails added to the bomb for extra damage. Authorities initially excluded the possibility of a terrorist attack. The bomb, which contained more than 800 nails, was hidden in a travel compartment on a bicycle left in front of the barber shop. De Höhner ( Kölsch for "The Chickens", , ) is a band from Cologne, Germany. They sing in the local dialect of Cologne, Kölsch. The group was founded in 1972 by Peter Werner and Janus Fröhlich. During their first year, the band wore chicken costumes, and threw real feathers into the audience. They are particularly successful in the area around Cologne, although they are popular nationwide.
