Birendra Lakra
Birendra Lakra (born 3 February 1990) is an Indian professional field hockey player. He represents India in men's field hockey and recently came out of retirement alongside Rupinderpal Singh and will be the Captain of Indian team in the Asia Cup to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia. In Tokyo 2020 also, he had been selected as Vice Captain of Indian team. Lakra's elder brother Bimal has played as a midfielder for India. His sister Asunta Lakra has played for India's women's hockey team and has captained the side and in 2021 he was awarded with Arjuna award. Personal life Birendra Lakra was born on 3 February 1990 in the village of Lachchada in the Sundargarh District of Odisha, on the border with Jharkhand. He was born to a family belonging to an Oraon tribe. Career Birendra Lakra is a player for the Rourkela Steel Plant's SAIL Hockey Academy. Sundargarh District
Sundargarh District is a district in the northwestern part of Odisha state in eastern India. 2013 Men's Hockey Asia Cup
The 2013 Men's Hockey Asia Cup was the ninth edition of the Men's Hockey Asia Cup, the quadrennial international men's field hockey championship of Asia organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. It was held from 24 August to 1 September 2013 in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The winner of this tournament qualified for the 2014 World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands. The tournament started in April 2016 in Singapore and finished in December 2017 in Bhubaneswar, India. FIH Hockey World League
The Men's FIH Hockey World League was an international field hockey competition organised by the International Hockey Federation. The league also served as a qualifier for the 2014 and 2018 Men's Hockey World Cups and the 2016 Olympic Games. Three seasons were held in 2012–13, 2014–15 and 2016-17. It was replaced by the new Men's FIH Pro League and Hockey Series in 2018-19. Format The tournament featured four rounds. For each edition the FIH decides the number of events and teams for each round. The number of Round 1 events varied in each cycle depending on the number of participating national teams. Teams were grouped regionally, although European teams were split in several tournaments. The remaining rounds have teams selected with no regional restrictions. The 2012 Men's Asian Champions Trophy was the second edition of the Men's Asian Champions Trophy. The tournament was held from 20 to 27 December 2012 in Doha, Qatar.
