Alfred Binns
Alfred Philip Binns (24 July 1929 – 29 December 2017) was a West Indian cricketer from Jamaica who played in five Tests between 1953 and 1956. He played as wicketkeeper in all five Tests. Career Binns attended St. George's College and represented Jamaica in first-class cricket from 1950 to 1957. His highest score was 157 against British Guiana in 1952–53. He also scored 151 for Jamaica against the Australians in 1954–55, when he and Collie Smith added 277 for the sixth wicket in 230 minutes after Jamaica had been 81 for 5. He toured New Zealand in 1955-56, playing in three of the four Tests. After Binns finished playing cricket he migrated to the United States, where he graduated from Northeastern University in Boston and worked as a teacher in Massachusetts. Joseph Binns
Joseph Binns, CBE (19 March 1900 – 23 April 1975) was a British Labour Party politician. Binns was the son of Alderman Joseph Binns, who later became Lord Mayor of Manchester. He was educated at elementary schools and at Manchester College of Technology, and became a consulting engineer, working for ICI. He was a member of Greenwich Borough Council from 1932 to 1949, and was Chairman of the Joint Standing Committee of the Metropolitan Boroughs from 1945 to 1949. At the 1945 general election he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gillingham in Kent. He was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of Supply, John Wilmot, from 1946 to 1947. He was defeated at the 1950 general election, after catching influenza during the campaign, and was never returned to the House of Commons. Tony Binns
James Anthony (Tony) Binns (born 1948 in Greater Manchester) is the Ron Lister Professor of Geography at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Background Tony Binns was born in Prestwich and grew up in Bury, Greater Manchester, UK. He attended Stand Grammar School, Whitefield. He graduated from Sheffield University (Geography, 1970; Dip.Ed., 1971) and taught geography in schools while attending the University of Birmingham (MA African Studies 1973; PhD African Studies and Geography, 1981). Stewart Binns is a British author and filmmaker who has produced many BAFTA, Grierson and Peabody award-winning documentaries. Early life Binns was born in Lancaster and brought up in Burnley, Lancashire by his single mother. After failing his 11-plus examination he went to St Theodore's Secondary Modern School and then on to Burnley Municipal College for his A-levels. From here Binns went on to study a BA in Politics & Modern History at Lancaster University and then an MA in International Relations at the University of Sussex. Stephen John "Steve" Binns (born 25 August 1960 in Keighley) is a male British former long-distance runner. Athletics career Binns competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics. He rose to prominence in 1979 as a junior athlete. First he took the individual and team silver medals at the 1979 IAAF World Cross Country Championships junior race, then won the 5000 metres at the 1979 European Athletics Junior Championships – his winning time of 13:44.37 minutes remains the championship record as of 2014. Patrick George Binns (born October 8, 1948), is a Canadian diplomat, the 30th premier of Prince Edward Island from 1996 to 2007 and Canadian Ambassador to Ireland from 2007 to 2010. Binns has a long history of public service, most notably being the 30th Premier of PEI for 11 years, during which time he was the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island. During his premiership, Binns was known as the province's "affable and unassuming premier." He also served as Canada's Consul General in Boston, Massachusetts. Malcolm Binns (born 29 January 1936) is a British classical pianist. Biography Malcolm Binns was born in Nottingham, England, in 1936. He studied music at the Royal College of Music in London from 1952 to 1956, including piano with Arthur Alexander. He made his London debut in 1957 and his Wigmore Hall debut in 1958. He has frequently appeared at the Proms in London, starting in 1960. In 1961 he gave the British premiere of the Piano Concerto No. 4, for left hand, by Prokofiev.
