Binghamton Bearcats Men's Basketball
The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team represents Binghamton University and is located in Vestal, New York. The team currently competes in the America East Conference and plays its home games at the Binghamton University Events Center. America East Conference
The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference has nine core members including eight public research universities, three of which, the University of Maine, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont, are the flagship universities of their states. The two non-flagship university centers of the State University of New York are in the conference: the University at Albany and Binghamton University. Bryant University is the only private university among the core membership. Of the nine members, eight are located within the borders of 7 contiguous states. The ninth, UMBC, is the only institution outside this bloc of states. Bryant is the latest institution to join the conference in 2022, when Stony Brook University and the University of Hartford departed the conference. Tommy Dempsey
Tommy Dempsey (born January 27, 1974) is an American college basketball coach and former head men's basketball coach at Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball, Binghamton University and Rider Broncs men's basketball, Rider. Coaching career Dempsey began his college coaching career in 2000 as the head coach at Keystone College, where he led the team to a 55–8 record in two seasons guiding the team to a NJCAA Men's Division III Basketball Championship, NJCAA Division III Final Four appearance. For the 2002–03 season, Dempsey spent a season at Lackawanna College where he guided the team the NJCAA Division II title game and a 33–4 overall record. The 2011–12 Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team represented Binghamton University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bearcats, led by third-year head coach Mark Macon, played their home games at the Binghamton University Events Center in Vestal, New York as members of the America East Conference. The team finished with a record of 2–29, the worst in program history, and finished last in America East play with a 1–15 conference record.
