Bingen Zupiria
Bingen Zupiria (born 1961) is a Spanish politician affiliated with the Basque National Party. As of 28 November 2016, he serves as Minister of Culture and Language Policy in the Basque Government. Between 2016 and 2020, he served in this position in the Second Urkullu Government led by Iñigo Urkullu and , he serves in this position in the Third Urkullu Government. He also serves as government spokesperson. Early life and education He was born in Hernani in 1961, and attended Urumea Ikastola. He holds a degree in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Deusto, specialising in Basque Philology. He graduated with honours in 1984. In 2002, he earned a MBA on Management of Worker Cooperatives by Mondragon University. He was a member of the music duo "Miren eta Bingen", along with Miren Etxaniz. Iñigo Urkullu
Íñigo Urkullu Renteria (born 18 September 1961) is a Spanish politician, and the Lehendakari (President) of the Basque Government since 2012. As the President of the Basque Government, he headed the First, Second and Third Urkullu Governments of the Basque Autonomous Community (Spain). Biography Urkullu graduated in teaching, specialized in Basque language, from the University of Deusto. He was a secondary school teacher at Asti-Leku Ikastola school. ''Deia'' (in Basque, ''The call'') is a Basque Country newspaper founded in 1977, with a Basque nationalistic perspective. The newspaper is bilingual in character though principally written in Spanish with some articles in Basque. Deia is the main product of the Editorial Iparraguirre S.A. (EISA). Although their initial objective was to cover news in the whole of País Vasco, they actually have as their tag line ''Noticias de Bizkaia'', as their principle market is in Vizcaya, where they are the second largest newspaper in the city. 2009 Basque Regional Election
The 2009 Basque regional election was held on Sunday, 1 March 2009, to elect the 9th Parliament of the Basque Autonomous Community. All 75 seats in the Parliament were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with a regional election in Galicia. It would be the first time that the elections for two of the Spanish "historical regions"—namely, those comprising Andalusia, Catalonia, Galicia and the Basque Country itself—were held simultaneously. ETB 1 is the first television channel from the Euskal Irrati Telebista group in the Basque Autonomous Community, Navarre and the French Basque Country. The channel broadcasts entirely in the Basque language. History In 1979 the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country was approved, the document contained the possibility of creating broadcast media owned by the Basque government, which would be used for the normalization of the Basque language.
