Biman Bangladesh Airlines Cricket Team
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines cricket team was a first-class cricket team in Bangladesh that played in only the inaugural 2000–01 domestic season and won the National Cricket League title. The team was sponsored by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the government-owned airliner of Bangladesh. The club played its home games at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan No 1 Ground in Savar. Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently play among the 12 clubs in the Dhaka Metropolis Premier League which is not given first class status. Biman also sponsors a team in the Corporate Cricket League. The team signed 18-year-old Pakistani opening batsman Imran Farhat during the 2000–01 season, and Farhat dominated, scoring 216 in the first match of the season and ending up with the most runs in Bangladeshi first class cricket that season. Javed Omar
Mohammad Jawed Omar Belim (born 25 November 1976), known in the early days of his career by the nickname Gullu is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who has played Tests and ODI cricket since 1995, and a former captain in both formats. Jawed bid bye after a friendly domestic match on January 3, 2014. In cricket, a run is the unit of scoring. The team with the most runs wins in many versions of the game, and always draws at worst (see result), except for some results decided by the DLS method, which is used in rain-shortened limited-overs games when the two teams have had a different number of opportunities to score runs. One run (known as a "single") is scored when the two batters (the striker and the non-striker) start off positioned at opposite ends of the pitch (which has a length of 22 yards) and then they each arrive safely at the other end of the pitch (i.e. they cross each other without being run out). Bowling, in cricket, is the action of propelling the ball toward the wicket defended by a batter. A player skilled at bowling is called a ''bowler''; a bowler who is also a competent batter is known as an all-rounder. Mohammad Jahangir Alam Talukdar (born 4 December 1968) is a former Bangladeshi cricketer who played in two One Day Internationals in 1990. A left-arm fast bowler (commonly called Dulu) he first played for Bangladesh side in a three-day match against Pakistan in January 1986. But it was only from the 1989–90 season that he started to appear regularly in international level. His 3/29 helped BCCB (White) defeat the Indian team Deccan Blues at Mymensingh in January 1990. The 2000–01 Bangladeshi cricket season marked the beginning of first-class domestic competition in Bangladesh, although the country had already staged first-class matches against touring teams in the previous year.
