Thomas William Murphy (3 November 1863 – 26 July 1939) was a New Zealand boxer. An early World Featherweight Champion, he was the first world champion of any weightclass to come from New Zealand. In his early career, he took the New Zealand Lightweight Championship. He was a prolific boxer who fought more than two hundred fights, with a few going as long as thirty and forty rounds. William Murphy (born November 13, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitching coach for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. Murphy grew up in Cranford, New Jersey and attended Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, New Jersey, where he pitched for the baseball team for three years and Wagner College, where he played first base on the baseball team for one year. He coached for Georgetown University and Brown University before he was hired by the Astros before the 2016 season. In 2022, the Astros won 106 games, the second-highest total in franchise history. William R.W. Murphy (born May 9, 1981) is an American professional baseball left-handed pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Toronto Blue Jays, with an 0–0 record in the Major Leagues. He has also played in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Chiba Lotte Marines being one of the most highly known pitchers in Japan during the 2010 season. William Eugene Murphy (born May 7, 1944) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder. He played in 84 games for the New York Mets in 1966, mostly as a center fielder and a pinch hitter. He had a batting average of .230 in 135 at bats, with 3 home runs and 13 runs batted in. Murphy signed with the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 1962. William Henry "Yale" Murphy (October 11, 1869 – February 14, 1906) was an American baseball player and coach of American football and baseball. He played as a shortstop in Major League Baseball for the New York Giants. Murphy served as the head baseball coach at Stanford University (1900–1901), Columbia University (1902), and the United States Naval Academy (1905), compiling a career college baseball record of 24–27–1. He was also the head football coach at Fordham University in 1902, tallying a mark of 2–4–1. Biography Murphy was born in Southborough, Massachusetts. William Francis Murphy (May 11, 1885 – February 7, 1950) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as the first bishop of the new Diocese of Saginaw in Michigan from 1938 until his death in 1950. William Murphy (12 February 1892 – 16 November 1967) was an Irish Fine Gael politician and Teachta Dála (TD) for Clare from 1951 until his death in 1967.
