Billmeyer House
The Billmeyer House, also known as York House, is a historic home located at York, Pennsylvania, York County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1860, and is a three-story, brick Italian Villa style dwelling. It consists of a "head house" with rear wing, and topped by flat roof with a 10 feet square cupola. The Italianate style was a distinct 19th-century phase in the history of Classical architecture. Like Palladianism and Neoclassicism, the Italianate style drew its inspiration from the models and architectural vocabulary of 16th-century Italian Renaissance architecture, synthesising these with picturesque aesthetics. Filippo Costaggini
300px, Filippo Costaggini Filippo Costaggini (1839–April 15, 1904) was an artist from Rome, Italy, who worked in the United States Capitol. He and Constantino Brumidi both trained at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, and he came to the United States in 1870. In addition to working in the United States Capitol, Costaggini was well known for decorating churches. He decorated the parlor ceiling and walls of the Billmeyer House in York, Pennsylvania.
