Billie Melman
Billie Melman ( he, בילי מלמן) is Professor of History at Tel Avivv University, Henri Glasberg Chair in European Studies, a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. She specializes in British social and cultural history and in history of empires. She has written extensively on colonialism and culture, cultures of history and on gender history and historiography. Most recently, she wrote on the rediscovery of Near Eastern antiquity in the 20th century. European Studies
European studies is a field of study offered by many academic colleges and universities that focuses on current developments in European integration. Some programmes offer a social science or public administration curriculum focusing on developments in the European Union. These programmes usually include a combination of political science, EU public policy, European history, European law, economics and sociology. Other universities approach the subject in a broader manner, including topics like European culture, European literature and European languages. Israel Academy Of Sciences And Humanities
Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, based in Jerusalem, was established in 1961 by the State of Israel to foster contact between Israeli scholars in the sciences and humanities and create a think tank for advising the government on research projects of national importance. Its members include many of Israel's most distinguished scholars. The offices of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities are located next door to the official residence of the President of Israel and the Council for Higher Education in Israel in Albert Einstein Square in Jerusalem. Royal Historical Society
The Royal Historical Society, founded in 1868, is a learned society of the United Kingdom which advances scholarly studies of history. Origins The society was founded and received its royal charter in 1868. Until 1872 it was known as the Historical Society. In 1897, it merged with (or absorbed) the Camden Society, founded in 1838. Stefan Berger
Stefan Berger (born 1964) is the Director of the Institute for Social Movements, Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, and Chairman of the committee of the Library of the Ruhr Foundation. He is Professor of Social History at the Ruhr University. He specializes in nationalism and national identity studies, historiography and historical theory, comparative labour studies, and the history of industrial heritage. Biography From 1985 to 1987 Berger attended the University of Cologne, where he studied history, political science and German literature.
