Bill Zinser
William Francis Zinser (January 6, 1920 – March 16, 2001) was a professional baseball pitcher. He appeared two Major League Baseball games for the Washington Senators (1901–60), Washington Senators in 1944. He was later a scout (sport), scout for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Zinser had a very short major league career, lasting only two games in 1944. He is most known for scouting future Baseball Hall of Fame, Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax while he pitched for the University of Cincinnati in 1954. His scouting report, which said that Koufax had an incredible arm, was lost in the Dodgers' front office until several other teams had given Koufax a tryout. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. Sandy Koufax
Sanford Koufax (; born Sanford Braun; December 30, 1935) is an American former left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played his entire career for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966. He has been hailed as one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. After joining the major leagues at age 19, having never pitched a game in the minor leagues, the first half of his career was unremarkable, posting a record of just 36–40 with a 4.10 earned run average (ERA); he was a member of World Series champions in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, though he did not appear in any of the team's Series wins.
