Jack Duffy
Jack Duffy (September 27, 1926 – May 19, 2008) was a Canadian singer, comedian and actor. Life and career Born in Montreal, Duffy grew up in Toronto, dropping out of Central Technical School to become a singer. At age 19, he was hired as a studio singer with CBC in Toronto and in 1948 he started a three-year affiliation with Tommy Dorsey, initially as a member of the vocal group Bob-O-Links. Duffy was performing as a member of the musical act the Town Criers in 1950 and would frequently appear on CBC-TV variety shows through the 1950s. In 1957, he was hired by Norman Jewison to appear as a comedian on the CBC series ''Showtime''. Duffy had his own CBC variety show called '' Here's Duffy'' that ran from June 1958 through October 1959. In 1961, he became a regular on '' Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall'', performing as one of the Kraft Music Hall Players, alongside Don Adams, Paul Lynde, Kaye Ballard and others. Dominion Drama Festival
The Dominion Drama Festival was an organisation in Canada that sought to promote amateur theatre across the country. It lasted, in one form or another, from 1932 until 1978. Founding The Dominion Drama Festival (DDF) was devised in 1932 as a way to promote the theatre that was being created in Canada. It was an annual event held each spring in a different city across the country. It would begin with small competitions in various parts of Canada, whichever were chosen from these regional competitions, judged by a travelling adjudicator, would move on to compete in the national festival. To be as fair as possible, a separate judge would preside over the festival at the national level. Prizes were awarded for the best performance of a full-length play in either English or French, for best director, visual presentation, best actor and best actress. ''Communicate'' is a Canadian game show television series which aired on CBC Television from 1966 to 1967. Premise This series was inspired by the American game show ''Password''. Each contestant attempted to determine the name of an object or person based on a single-word clue provided by a teammate. The game was played between two teams, each team consisting of two people where one of those people was a celebrity. The competing pair of teams played up to three rounds, where the winning team remained on the show to play a new team. Contestants who were not celebrities received cash prizes when they won. Celebrity guests included Frances Hyland, Jane Morgan, Cliff Robertson, Jimmy Tapp, Bill and Marilyn Walker and Paxton Whitehead. ''Flashback'' was a Canadian quiz show television series which aired on CBC Television from 1962 to 1968. Premise A four-person panel including one guest panelist was given three minutes to guess a mystery fad, item or person from the past. The quiz show approach of ''Flashback'' resembled that of ''Front Page Challenge''. The mystery topics were submitted by viewers for cash prizes, where $25 was awarded if the topic was broadcast, and $50 if the panel was unable to make a correct guess. Premise This series adopted the ''Front Page Challenge'' concept for the realm of biography. In each episode, each of three guests would represent a historical person whose identity the panelists would guess. Charles Templeton was the series host. CFWM-FM (99.9 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is owned by Bell Media and airs an adult hits format branded as ''Bounce 99.9''. The studios and offices are at 1445 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, with sister stations CKMM-FM and CFRW. The transmitter is on Road 54 Northeast, off McGillivrey Boulevard, near Oak Bluff.
