Bill Thomas (Alaska Politician)
William A. Thomas Jr. (born June 1, 1947) is a businessman, commercial fisherman, and politician from the U.S. state of Alaska. Thomas served as a Republican member of the Alaska House of Representatives from the 5th District, comprising scattered rural and semi-rural communities throughout Southeast Alaska and stretching westward to Prince William Sound, from 2005 to 2013. Thomas served in the majority his entire tenure in the House and held multiple chairmanships. Thomas gained a seat on the powerful House Finance Committee during his second term and would eventually co-chair the committee. Following redistricting, Thomas lost reelection in 2012 by 32 votes to 23-year-old Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, a political newcomer who left Yale University to run. Early life William A. Albert Kookesh
Albert Matthew Kookesh, Jr. (November 24, 1948 – May 28, 2021) was an American politician who served as a member of the Alaska Senate. He represented District C as a Democrat from 2005 through 2013. Previously he was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1997 through 2005. Kookesh received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington in 1976 and was a commercial fisherman, who owned and operated a lodge and market. He was on the board of directors of the Sealaska Corporation and was a co-chair of the Alaska Federation of Natives. His earlier professional positions included Business Manager, Executive VP, and Acting President/CEO for Kootznoowoo Inc. Haines High School
Haines High School is the primary high school for the town of Haines, Alaska and the Haines Borough School District. Extracurriculars Haines High School offers participation for all students in cross country, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, track and field, drama, swimming, debate and forensics, and music programs. Rampart (''Dleł Taaneets'' in Koyukon) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area, Alaska, United States. The population was 24 at the 2010 census, down from 45 in 2000. History Novelist Rex Beach (1877-1949) moved to Rampart in 1900, during the Klondike Gold Rush (1896-1899); although his prospecting efforts were of little success, the experience led to the publication of '' The Spoilers'', one of three novels written by Beach that made it to Publishers Weekly list of bestselling novels in the United States in the 1900s. The Alaska State Senate is the upper house in the Alaska Legislature, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Alaska. Georgianna Lincoln (born February 22, 1943) is an American politician and businesswoman. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska Territory, Lincoln graduated from Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1960.
