Bill Sellars
William Sellars (5 June 1925 – 19 December 2018) was an English television producer and director, most active from the 1960s to the 1980s. His entire 33-year-career was spent working on projects for the BBC.''All Memories Great & Small'', Oliver Crocker (2016; MIWK) Of these, '' All Creatures Great and Small'' (1978–90), which he produced for its entire run, was the biggest success. Conversely, he had a major critical failure with ''Triangle'' (1981–83), a soap opera set on board a ferry in the North Sea. Early life Sellars was born in Tideswell in Derbyshire and left school at the age of 14 to work in a factory. He performed his Second World War service in the 11th East African Royal Artillery Regiment of the British Army and toured India with the Combined Services Entertainment company. Tideswell
Tideswell is a village and civil parish in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England. It lies east of Buxton on the B6049, in a wide valley on a limestone plateau, at an altitude of above sea level, and is within the District of Derbyshire Dales. The population (including Wheston) was 1,820 in 2001, increasing slightly to 1,827 at the 2011 Census, making it the second-largest settlement within the National Park, after Bakewell. Tideswell Dale is a short limestone valley leading south from the village to the River Wye valley. Name There is some debate as to how the village got its name. The English Place Name Society accepts it as being named after a Saxon chieftain named Tidi, others that the name comes from a "tiding well" situated in the north of the village. This 'ebbing and flowing' well was declared to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Peak by Thomas Hobbes in his 1636 book ''De Mirabilibus Pecci.'' ''199 Park Lane'' was a British soap opera that aired on BBC1 in 1965. Airing twice a week, the series was set in a luxury block of flats in London.
