Bill Searcey
William Alexander Searcey, known professionally as Bill Searcey, (March 3, 1958 – March 8, 2021) was an American offensive guard for the San Diego Chargers. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he attended Benedictine Military School. He attended college at the University of Alabama and played college football with the Alabama Crimson Tide. He started his career with the Birmingham Stallions in 1983 and then played for the Houston Gamblers The Houston Gamblers were an American football team that competed in the United States Football League in 1984 and 1985. The Gamblers were coached by veteran NFL head coach Jack Pardee in both their seasons. They were noteworthy for introducing .... He made his NFL debut in the 1985 season, only appearing in one game during his career. He died on March 8, 2021, due to pancreatic cancer, days after his 63rd birthday. 1978 Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team
The 1978 Alabama Crimson Tide football team (variously "Alabama", "UA" or "Bama") represented the University of Alabama in the 1978 NCAA Division I-A football season. It was the Crimson Tide's 84th overall and 45th season as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team was led by head coach Bear Bryant, in his 21st year, and played their home games at Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. They finished season with eleven wins and one loss (11–1 overall, 6–0 in the SEC), as SEC champions and as national champions after a victory over Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. The Alabama Crimson Tide refers to the intercollegiate athletic varsity teams that represent the University of Alabama, located in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I as a member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) (with the exception of rowing, which competes in the Big 12 Conference).
