William Felton Russell (February 12, 1934 – July 31, 2022) was an American professional basketball player who played as a center for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1956 to 1969. A five-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) and a 12-time NBA All-Star, he was the centerpiece of the Celtics dynasty that won 11 NBA championships during his 13-year career. Russell and Henri Richard of the National Hockey League are tied for the record of the most championships won by an athlete in a North American sports league. Russell is widely considered to be one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Bill Russell (born 1949) is an American librettist and lyricist. Among his stage musicals are ''Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens'' and ''Side Show'', which was nominated for the Tony Award as Best Musical. Career Russell's first musical to be produced is ''Fortune'', which ran Off-Broadway at the Actors' Plahouse from April 27, 1980 to November 23, 1980. Ronald Melrose wrote the music, with Russell writing the book and lyrics. The musical director and arranger was Janet Hood; they have gone on to write several musicals together. The musical concerned four performers who were headed to be stars. According to ''The New York Times'' reviewer, John Corry, it "marked the maturity of the gay musical", and he commended the "literate" lyrics. Adam George Brown (16 July 1893 – 25 November 1971), who used the stage name Billy Russell, was a British comedian and character actor. Biography He was born in Birmingham, and first appeared on stage at the age of seven in 1900 in a theatrical show in Gloucester. He also worked in funfairs, and before the First World War as a child actor in the north of England, the Midlands and Wales, sometimes as part of a duo. He learned stagecraft from actors and music hall performers such as Bransby Williams and George Robey. A skilled visual artist, he sometimes appeared as "Baroni the Ambidextrous Cartoonist". He served in the South Staffordshire Regiment during the war, and entertained the troops as "The Trench Philosopher", performing monologues in the style of the character "Old Bill" devised by cartoonist Bruce Bairnsfather.

William Ellis Russell (born October 21, 1948) is a former shortstop, coach and manager in Major League Baseball. Russell played his entire 18-year, 2,181-game career with the Los Angeles Dodgers as the starting shortstop for four National League pennant winners and one World Series championship team. William Russell (7 July 1935 – 10 November 2022) was an English footballer who played as an inside or outside right. He began his career with Rhyl before playing top-flight football for Sheffield United. After leaving United he had spells at Bolton Wanderers, Rochdale, Scarborough and was playing for Chorley when forced to retire through injury. Initially playing as an amateur Russell was capped four times by the England amateur side before turning professional in 1957. Club career Russell was playing as an amateur with Rhyl when he was spotted by Sheffield United manager Joe Mercer who duly signed him in August 1957 on similar amateur terms.
