Bill Robb
William Edward Robb (20 October 1927 – 23 January 2012) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Robb was educated at Leichhardt and Sydney Technical College The Sydney Technical College, now known as the TAFE New South Wales Sydney Institute, is a technical school established in 1878, that superseded the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. The college is one of Australia's oldest technical education i ...s and was a proprietor of a hairdressing business from 1952 to 1973. He married Heather in July 1950 and they had two sons. He worked in the New South Wales Department of Public Works from 1974 to 1978. Robb was the Labor Party member for Miranda from 1978 to 1984. New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. From the creation of the assembly up to about 1990, the post-nominals "MLA" (Member of the Legislative Assembly) were used. Sydney Technical College
The Sydney Technical College, now known as the TAFE New South Wales Sydney Institute, is a technical school established in 1878, that superseded the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. The college is one of Australia's oldest technical education institutions. Forebears The Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts was founded in 1833. In 1878, the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts formed the Working Men's College, which eventually became the Sydney Technical College in 1882. In 1911, the high school operations of the college became Sydney Technical High School. In 1949, the New South Wales University of Technology was founded on its main site, as a separate institution. As the University of New South Wales, this is now one of the most prestigious universities in Australia. In 1969, part of the college became the New South Wales Institute of Technology (NSWIT). The Australian Labor Party (New South Wales Branch), also known as NSW Labor, is the New South Wales branch of the Australian Labor Party. The parliamentary leader is elected from and by the members of the party caucus, comprising all party members in the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The party factions have a strong influence on the election of the leader. Tim Walker (politician)
Noel Douglas "Tim" Walker (25 December 1917 – 11 November 1986) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Walker was born in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, and educated at Tamworth High School. He became a farmer and a policeman in 1940. He married Jessica Frances Farrow in January 1946 and had they had two sons. He later became a newsagent in Miranda from 1953 and director of Associated Newsagents' Co-operative Limited from about 1954. Walker was elected as the Liberal Party member for Sutherland Sutherland ( gd, Cataibh) is a historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area in the Highlands of Scotland. Ron Phillips (politician)
Ronald Anthony Phillips (born 16 May 1949) is a former Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Phillips was born in Sydney and became accountant in the dairy, printing, mining, rubber plastics and stockbroking industries. He worked for Potter Partners, a stockbroking firm, for three years before his election to Parliament. He married Ann-Marie and they had one daughter and two sons. He represented the seat of Miranda for the Liberal Party from 1984 to 1999. He was Minister for Health Services Management from June 1991 until June 1992 and then Minister for Health until the defeat of the Fahey government in March 1995. He was then Deputy Leader of the Opposition until he lost his seat in 1999.
