Bill Piercy
William Benton Piercy (May 2, 1896 – August 28, 1951), born in El Monte, California, was a pitcher for the New York Yankees (1917 and 1921), Boston Red Sox (1922–24) and Chicago Cubs (1926). Piercy helped the Yankees win the 1921 American League pennant. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
