Bill Newman (politician)
William Gould Newman (1928 – October 12, 1988) was a politician from Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1967 to 1981. He served as a cabinet minister in the government of Bill Davis. Background Born in Toronto, Ontario, the son of Harry and Margaret Newman, Newman received his degree from the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph. He worked as a farmer in the Pickering area. He was married to Molly Mitchell with whom he had three children. Politics Newman started as a councillor for Pickering Township and eventually became reeve of Ontario County. In 1967, he ran as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the new riding of Ontario South. He defeated New Democrat candidate Tom Edwards by 1,240 votes. He was re-elected in 1971. William Newman (Canadian Politician)
William Newman (January 12, 1873 – October 21, 1953) was an Ontario farmer and political figure. A Liberal member in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, he represented Victoria North from 1926 to 1934 and Victoria from 1934 to 1937. He was born in Edwardsburgh Township, Grenville County, Ontario Grenville County is a former county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It fronted on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River, between the towns of Kingston and Cornwall. The county was created in 1792, and named in honour of William Grenv ..., the son of John W. Newman. He was educated in Prescott and Kingston. In 1903, he married a Miss Evelyn Allen, and they had one son, Allen. He raised dairy cattle near Lorneville and was president of the Eastern Ontario Dairymans Association and the Eastern Ontario Creameries Association. The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is an Ontario government ministry responsible for protecting and improving the quality of the environment in the Canadian province of Ontario, as well as coordinating Ontario's actions on climate change. Liquor Control Board Of Ontario
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) is a Crown corporation that retails and distributes alcoholic beverages throughout the Canadian province of Ontario. It is accountable to the Legislative Assembly through the minister of finance. It was established in 1927 by the government of Premier George Howard Ferguson to sell liquor, wine, and beer. Such sales were banned outright in 1916 as part of prohibition in Canada. The creation of the LCBO marked an easing of the province's temperance regime. By September 2017, the LCBO was operating 651 liquor stores. George Albert Kerr
George Albert Kerr (January 27, 1924 – May 21, 2007) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1963 to 1985, and was a cabinet minister in the governments of John Robarts and Bill Davis. Kerr was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party and was the first person to hold the portfolio of environment minister in any provincial or federal cabinet in Canada. James Alexander Charles Auld (July 22, 1921 – June 30, 1982) was an Ontario political figure. He represented Leeds in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1954 to 1981 as a Progressive Conservative member. Background He was born in Toronto, the son of James Carswell Auld, and educated in Toronto and at the University of Toronto. In 1946, he married Nancy Eleanor Gilmour.
