Bill Leckie
Bill Leckie is a Scottish sports journalist and broadcaster who currently writes for the Scottish edition of '' The Sun'' newspaper. Leckie also does commentary on Scottish Football League matches for BBC Radio Scotland and makes regular contributions on Talksport and BBC Radio 5 Live. In 2010, Bill Leckie was nominated for 'Journalist of the Year' at the Stonewall Awards for an article he wrote on the gay Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas. The nomination was withdrawn following criticisms from trans campaigners who objected to articles Leckie has written mocking a bingo night for drag queens and arguing against taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgery for prisoners. Random House is an American book publisher and the largest general-interest paperback publisher in the world. The company has several independently managed subsidiaries around the world. It is part of Penguin Random House, which is owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann. Foxbar is a district of Paisley, bordered by the Gleniffer Braes and Paisley town centre. Consisting mostly of residential areas, Foxbar has rapidly grown over the past century to be one of the largest housing areas in the town. An area of low socioeconomic levels and poor social mobility, the local authority (Renfrewshire Council) has invested significantly in the area, which nowadays boasts multiple community centres, public parks and social areas. Gareth Thomas (rugby)
Gareth Thomas (born 25 July 1974), nicknamed "Alfie", is a Welsh former professional rugby union and rugby league player, who represented Wales in both sports. With 100 test match appearances he was the most capped Welsh rugby union player until he was overtaken by Stephen Jones in September 2011. He is currently ranked 14th among international try scorers, and is the third highest Wales try scorer behind Shane Williams & George North. He also won four rugby league caps for Wales, scoring three tries. He played rugby union as a fullback, wing or centre for Bridgend, Cardiff, the Celtic Warriors, Toulouse, Cardiff Blues, and Wales.
