William H. Horne (born March 28, 1948) is a Canadian politician. He was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the 2013 provincial election. A member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, he represented the electoral district of Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank. Horne graduated from Saint Mary's University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science. Gary Hines (politician)
Gary Hines is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 2003 to 2006 as a member of the Progressive Conservatives. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia, Hines was educated at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. He founded Garrick Construction and was president of Fundy Adventures. In 2000, Hines was elected a municipal councillor in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Hines entered provincial politics in 2003, defeating New Democrat Percy Paris by 363 votes in the newly established Waverley-Fall River-Beaver Bank riding. The 2009 Nova Scotia general election was held on June 9, 2009 to elect members of the 61st House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. The Nova Scotia New Democratic Party is a social-democratic, progressive provincial party in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is the provincial entity of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP). It was founded as the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) in 1932, and became the New Democratic Party in 1961. It became the governing party of Nova Scotia following the 2009 Nova Scotia election, winning 31 seats in the Legislature, under the leadership of Premier Darrell Dexter. It is the first New Democratic Party in Atlantic Canada to form a government, and the second to form a government in a province east of Manitoba.
