Bill Chambers (musician)
Bill Chambers is an Australian country musician and former member of the Dead Ringer Band. Chambers's albums ''Sleeping with the Blues'' and ''Cold Trail'' were nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Country Album. He is best known as being the father of Kasey Chambers. He lives in Ourimbah, NSW Central Coast. Career Bill Chambers was born in Southend, South Australia and married his wife Diane at age 20. Together they had two children, Nash in 1974 and Kasey in 1976. Shortly after the birth of Kasey in 1976, Chambers moved his family to central Australia's Nullarbor Plain and earned a living by hunting and trapping rabbits and foxes that raided Nullarbor poultry farms, then selling the pelts. Bill home schooled Nash and Kasey, and taught them American folk and country music by the Carter Family, Jimmie Rogers, Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt and Gram Parsons, as well as Australian country artists Slim Dusty, Buddy Williams and Tex Morton. Southend, South Australia
Southend (formerly known as Grey Town and Grey) is a town and locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the south-east of the state on the southern shore of Rivoli Bay about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide. The site of the town was selected by George Grey, Governor of South Australia before his departure in late 1845 and was approved by his successor, Frederick Robe, on 19 March 1846 with the town being laid out by Thomas Burr, the Deputy Surveyor-General later in 1846. The town was originally named Grey Town which changed to Grey in 1912 and then to Southend on 21 October 1971. Audrey Auld
Audrey Auld-Mezera (''née'' Audrey Auld; 14 January 1964 – 9 August 2015) was an Australian American country music touring singer–songwriter. She had released eleven albums and three EPs on her own Reckless Records label, and had recorded with numerous musicians including Bill Chambers, Kieran Kane, Fred Eaglesmith, Mary Gauthier, Dale Watson, Kasey Chambers, and Carrie Rodriguez. She had songs recorded by various artists and songs placed on the FX TV shows "Justified", "Longmire", "NCIS: New Orleans" and "The Good Guys". She hosted songwriting workshops with inmates in San Quentin Prison in California from 2007 till 2013. Auld-Mezera died of cancer on 9 August 2015, aged 51. The Tamworth Country Music Festival is an annual Australian music festival held for 10 days from Friday to Sunday in mid to late January each year, sometimes including Australia Day, in Tamworth, New South Wales. The festival is the second biggest country music festival in the world, after the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. The AIR Awards of 2017 is the eleventh annual Australian Independent Record Labels Association Music Awards (generally known as the AIR Awards) and was an award ceremony at Queen's Theatre Adelaide, Australia on 27 July 2017.
