Bill Cashmore (actor)
Bill Cashmore (17 April 1961 – 9 November 2017) was an English actor and playwright, as well as director and co-founder of the organisation Actors in Industry. Acting Cashmore was born in Nottingham and attended Denstone College, Uttoxeter, and Downing College, Cambridge, where he read English. He started his acting career in the Cambridge Footlights and went on to have roles in ''The Bill'', ''Casualty (TV series), Casualty'', ''All Creatures Great and Small (1978 TV series), All Creatures Great and Small'', ''Fist of Fun'', and other programmes. Writer and playwright Cashmore was a writer and performer for ''Gimme 5'', the live ITV children's programme. He has written several plays with Andy Powrie, including Trip of A Lifetime', published by Samuel French, which has been performed around the world. ''Wycliffe'' is a British television series, based on W. J. Burley's novels about Detective Superintendent Charles Wycliffe. It was produced by HTV and broadcast on the ITV Network, following a pilot episode on 7 August 1993, between 24 July 1994 and 5 July 1998. The series was filmed in Cornwall, with a production office in Truro. Music for the series was composed by Nigel Hess, who was nominated for the Royal Television Society award for the best original television theme in 1997. Charles Wycliffe is played by Jack Shepherd, assisted by DI Doug Kersey (Jimmy Yuill) and DI Lucy Lane (Helen Masters). Each episode deals with a murder investigation. ''Kavanagh QC'' is a British television series made by Central Television for ITV between 1995 and 2001. All five series are available on DVD in both Region 1 and Region 2. Plot The series starred John Thaw as barrister James Kavanagh QC, who comes from a working-class upbringing in Bolton, Greater Manchester. Although having been alluded to in Series 1 Episode 1, this is only revealed in later episodes as his parents' health deteriorates and through an exchange with a colleague who presumed that Kavanagh was actually a Yorkshireman. Plus, on one occasion Kavanagh dashes off to catch Bolton Wanderers play in a televised football match.
