Bill Brand (TV Series)
''Bill Brand'' is a British television drama series produced by Thames Television for the ITV network which was shown in the summer of 1976. Written by Trevor Griffiths, the series charts the political progress of the eponymous Brand, who becomes a Labour Party member of parliament for a Lancashire constituency after retaining the seat at a by-election with a small majority. A former Liberal Studies lecturer at a local Technical college, Brand finds the demands of his career at odds with his left-wing convictions. Produced as one series of eleven episodes, ''Bill Brand'' stars Jack Shepherd in the title role. Arthur Lowe appeared as the Prime Minister, Arthur Watson (a character loosely based on Harold Wilson). Geoffrey Dyson Palmer (4 June 1927 – 5 November 2020) was an English actor. He was best known for his roles in British television sitcoms playing Jimmy Anderson in ''The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'' (1976–79), Ben Parkinson in ''Butterflies'' (1978–1983) and Lionel Hardcastle in '' As Time Goes By'' (1992–2005). Colin Abel Jeavons (born 20 October 1929) is a retired British television actor. Career Jeavons' earliest television role was as Jules Neraud in an episode of the 1956 anthology series of teleplays ''Nom-de-Plume''. Broadcast live, it is unknown if any recordings of the production exist. He began an association with Dickens productions on BBC Television in 1959 with ''Bleak House'' as Richard Carstone, and '' Great Expectations'' (for the first time) as Herbert Pocket. The same year he played Prince Hal/Henry V in the BBC's ''The Life and Death of Sir John Falstaff''. In 1963 he played the extremely reluctant hero Vadassy forced into espionage in '' Epitaph for a Spy'' for BBC Television. Jeavons portrayed Uriah Heep in the BBC's ''David Copperfield'' (1966). Early life Farleigh was born in Bath, Somerset on 3 May 1942 to Joseph Sydney Farleigh and his wife Marjorie Norah (née Clark).
