Bilasipara is a town, sub-division and town area committee in Dhubri district in the state of Assam, India. About This town is under Bilasipara Municipal Board (BMB) and is part of two MLA constituency namely 27 Bilasipara East 26 Bilasipara West. It has a population of approximately fifty thousand (excluding the Bilasipara sub-division). The widely spoken language of the town is 'Ujani'; the locals call it 'Desi'. People of many religions, castes and mother-tongues are found here. The official population of the town in 2015 is more than 50,000. Dhubri District
Dhubri District (Pron:ˈdʊbri) is an administrative district in the Indian state of Assam. The district headquarters are located at Dhubri town which is situated at ~290 km from Guwahati. This was also the headquarters of erstwhile undivided Goalpara district which was created in 1876 by the British government. In 1983, Goalpara district was divided into four districts and Dhubri is one among those. Dhubri district is one among the many Muslim-majority districts of Assam. In 2016, Dhubri was divided again to form South Salmara-Mankachar District. As of 2011 it is the second most populous district of Assam (out of 27), after Nagaon.
