Bila, Ethiopia
Bilo, formerly spelled Billo and Billò, is a town in central Ethiopia. It is located in the East Welega Zone of the Oromia at an elevation of above sea level. Bilo is the administrative center of Wama Bonaya woreda and was sometimes also known as Bila and Falle. Overview Local landmarks in Bilo include the Medhane Alem church. The Russian explorer Alexander Bulatovich visited Bilo 8 November 1896. At the time, it was a crossroads for Caravan route, caravans travelling between south-western Ethiopia and Gojjam on their way to the traditional Ethiopian port of Massawa. Although it was in the territory of ''Dejazmach'' Demissew Nassibu, it was not part of it; instead it was under the rule of a ''nagadras'' or governor of its marketplace. Bulatovich noted that the settlement had fewer than 300 permanent residents and, in light of the colonial developments along the Red Sea coast, most of south Ethiopia's trade had shifted to the routes through Harar to the French Somaliland, Frenc ...

Bila Language
Bila, or Forest Bira, is a Bantu language spoken in the Mambasa Territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is also spoken by the Mbuti Pygmies who live in that area. Mwango).'' Other Mbuti speak Central Sudanic languages. The Kango and Sua speak distinct di ...

Bila (sun)
Bila (also occasionally rendered Belah) is the personification of the Sun among the Adnyamathanha people. She is a solar goddess, as befitting the general trends among Australian aboriginal peoples, which largely perceive the Sun as female. Bila is said to be a cannibal, roasting her victims over a fire, the origin of sunlight. To do this she sent black and red dogs to drag her victims, resulting even in an entire village being slaughtered. In a myth the Lizard Men Kudnu ("Goanna") and Muda ("gecko") were appalled by these acts and attacked, prompting her to flee and cast the world in darkness. He then used a boomerang, catching her and making her move in a slow arc across the sky as it returned, it illuminated the world. For this act of heroism lizards like goannas and geckos are respected by the Adnyamathanha. A similar, albeit likely unrelated myth, occurs in Woodlark Island.
