Bihariganj is a city in the Madhepura district of Bihar, India. Bihariganj is located in Northeast India and is part of the Mithila region. History The ancient name of Bihariganj was "Nishankhpur Kodha". In medieval times, Bihariganj was ruled by the Sen dynasty. In the 16th century, the main stream of the Koshi River flowed to Bihariganj, named "ha-ha dhar", with a small market approximately 2 kilometers away. Gamail Gola was used as a local market where jute, rice, wheat, and other commercial items were purchased and bought by local people. Bihariganj Railway station is one of the oldest railway stations in northern India. Geography Bihariganj is the central market of its surrounded villages. Madhepura District
Madhepura district is one of the thirty-eight districts of Bihar state, India, and Madhepura town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Madhepura district is a part of Kosi division. History Madhepura is part of the Mithila region and the people here speak the Maithili language. Mithila first gained prominence after being settled by Indo-Aryan peoples who established the Mithila Kingdom (also called Kingdom of the Videhas). During the late Vedic period (c. 1100–500 BCE), Videha became one of the major political and cultural centers of South Asia, along with Kuru and Pañcāla. The kings of the Videha Kingdom were called Janakas. The Videha Kingdom was later incorporated into the Vajjika League, which had its capital in the city of Vaishali, which is also in Mithila. Madhepura is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar state in eastern India. Sharad Yadav started his political innings in his home state of Madhya Pradesh in 1970s, but he later made Madhepura his base, winning from here 4 times and losing 4 times. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India.
