Bihanga Island
Bihanga Island is located at Patharghata Upazila in Barguna District. It is an island of Baleshwari River. Although the island was discovered long ago, it was recently named ''Bihanga Island''. The name Bihanga in Bengali language means "bird". To the locals it is known as the Dhanseer Char. At one time, the island had a lot of ''Dhanshee'' plants. It is located close to the World Heritage Sunderbans. Baleshwari River
The Baleshwari River is located in Bangladesh, forming part of the eastern border of Bagerhat District and the western border of Barguna District. It borders on the east the largest mangrove forest in the world, in the Ganges-Brahmaputra delta, the Bangladesh part of which is set aside as the Sundarbans Reserve Forest. Barisal Division
Barishal Division is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. Located in the south-central part of the country, it has an area of , and a population of 8,325,666 at the 2011 Census. It is the least populous Division within the entirety of Bangladesh. Barguna District
Barguna ( bn, বরগুনা ''Borguna'') is a district in the Barisal Division, division of Barisal, Bangladesh. It is situated in the southern part of Bangladesh. Barguna subdivision was established in 1969 and promoted to district on 28 February 1984. History Barguna district was in the Sundarbans, Sundarban area. In the evolution of time, people started clearing the forest by cutting down the trees and started to live here. Wood merchants used to come here to collect woods from the forest. Etymology There is not enough strong proof of naming the district. Patharghata ( bn, পাথরঘাটা উপজেলা) is an Upazila of Barguna District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh. Geography Patharghata is located at . It has 25,610 households and a total area of 387.36 km2. Demographics As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Patharghata has a population of 134635. Males constitute 50.56% of the population, and females 49.44%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 68751.
