Fiona Bigwood
Fiona Bigwood (born 24 April 1976) is a British dressage rider, and winner of a silver medal in the team dressage event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Early life Bigwood was born on 24 April 1976. By the time she was 10 years old, Bigwood rode Tanya Larrigan's old Grand Prix horse Salute on lease. She soon competed at the 1993 Junior European Championships and the Young Rider European Championships. As a teenager, she trained in Denmark and was educated at Croydon High School. Career In 1997, Bigwood became the youngest British rider to be selected for a Senior European Championships. In the same year, she won the British National Elementary title with Afrikka and was shortlisted for the 1998 World Equestrian Games. Afterwards, she competed at the 2010 World Equestrian Games and at four European Dressage Championships (in 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2015). In 2014, she suffered a concussion after a fall while riding. Alfred Bigwood
Alfred Bigwood (3 August 1857 – 12 September 1940) was an English cricketer. Bigwood was a right-handed batsman who bowled roundarm slow, though which he arm he bowled with is also unknown. He was born at Mortlake, Surrey. Bigwood made a single first-class appearance for Surrey against Middlesex in 1878 at Lord's. Middlesex won the toss and elected to bat, making 105 all out. Surrey responded in their first-innings by making 84 all out, with Bigwood for 4 runs by Robert Henderson. Middlesex then made 167 all out in their second-innings, leaving Surrey with a target of 189 for victory. However, Surrey could only manage to make 75 all out, with Bigwood ending the innings not out on a single run. Middlesex won the match by 113 runs. This was his only major appearance for Surrey. James Bigwood
James Bigwood (1839 – 6 December 1919) was an English manufacturer and Conservative politician. Bigwood was born at Bristol. He was educated at Cotham, Bristol and at St John's College, Cambridge (BA. 1853, MA. 1866). He became a partner in the firm of Champion & Co. mustard and vinegar manufacturers located in Finsbury. He was a member of the Society of Chemical Industry and a strong proponent of food product purity. Bigwood married Marian Webb of Torquay in 1862. In the 1885 general election, Bigwood was elected member of parliament for Finsbury East with a lead of 20 votes but lost the seat against the trend in the 1886 general election by 61 votes. He was elected MP for Brentford in a by election in 1886 and held it until the 1906 general election. On 17 January 1906 he was appointed a deputy lieutenant of Middlesex. Jessie Bigwood
Jessie Lafountain Bigwood (1874 – September 23, 1953) was Vermont's first female lawyer. She was born in 1874 to Frank Lafountain and Helen Payette in Plattsburgh (city), New York, Plattsburgh, New York. At the age of sixteen, she graduated early from high school and thereafter attended the Burlington Business School to study bookkeeping and stenography. She served as a government reporter at Fort Ethan Allen. In 1898, she married Frederick H. Bigwood and began working for V.A. Bullard, Esq. Bigwood took a law course at Boston University in 1900, and by 1902, became the first female lawyer in Vermont after successfully completing her oral examination. Bigwood died on September 23, 1953, in Toronto, Toronto, Canada. During the final months of her life, a widowed Bigwood supplemented her pension by working as a nurse's aide.
