Big Ben is a bell in Elizabeth Tower which is part of the Palace of Westminster in London, England. Big Ben
Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the Great Clock of Westminster, at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, England, and the name is frequently extended to refer also to the clock and the clock tower. The official name of the tower in which Big Ben is located was originally the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a neo-Gothic style. When completed in 1859, its clock was the largest and most accurate four-faced striking and chiming clock in the world. The tower stands tall, and the climb from ground level to the belfry is 334 steps. Its base is square, measuring on each side. Dials of the clock are in diameter. Big Ben (April 20, 1976 – December 11, 1999) was a world champion show jumping horse. Birth and acquisition by Ian Millar First named "Winston", Big Ben was born at the van Hooydonk Farm in Kalmthout (northern Belgium). Although his dam was only , Big Ben grew to be a very large horse standing high. Soon after, he was purchased for Canadian equestrian Ian Millar for $45,000 and permanently relocated to Millar Brooke Farm in Perth, Ontario, Canada. Several lucrative offers were made to buy Big Ben throughout his career, but the ownership group, as well as Ian Millar, had such a strong bond with him that they refused all offers. The Clock Tower of Murshidabad (locally known just as ''Clock Tower'' or ''Ghari Ghar'', also known as ''Big Ben of Murshidabad'') is a clock tower in the Nizamat Fort Campus in West Bengal, India. The clock tower stands in the garden space between the Nizamat Imambara and the Hazarduari Palace; to its east, hardly a few feet away, is the old Madina Mosque and the Bacchawali Tope. Big Ben Bowen Highway
West Virginia Route 193 (also known as the "Big Ben" Bowen Highway) is a north–south route extending from U.S. Route 60 at Barboursville to West Virginia Route 2 just east of Huntington. History Construction began in 1999 on the Merritts Creek Connector, a four-lane divided highway from U.S. Route 60 in Barboursville to WV 2 near Lesage. The highway would bypass the existing two-lane County Route 19 (Merritts Creek Road). A 1/2 mile segment opened in 2000 that linked U.S. Route 60 in Barboursville to County Route 19. A new interchange at milepost 18 on Interstate 64 was completed as part of this phase. In 2001, a northern extension from County Route 19 to County Route 24 was completed at a cost of $13.35 million. Signage and all traffic elements were completed but the road was not opened to traffic as it connected to a one-lane county route that was inadequate of handling large traffic volumes. Westclox was an American manufacturer and is a current brand of clocks and alarm clocks. The company's historic plant is located in Peru, Illinois. Early history as United Clock Company Charles Stahlberg and others from Waterbury, Connecticut, formed the "United Clock Company" on December 5, 1885, in Peru, Illinois, intending to manufacture clocks based on a technological innovation by Stahlberg. Stahlberg patented this innovation on September 22, 1885, (US patent #326,602) which involved the use of molded lead alloy movement plates with inset brass bushings as well as lead alloy gear assemblies. "Big Ben" was the World War II code name for the British project to reconstruct and evaluate captured German missiles such as the V-2 rocket. On 31 July 1944, after the UK agreed to exchange Supermarine Spitfires for the wreckage of a V-2 in Sweden during World War II, experts at Farnborough began an attempt to reconstruct the missile. Bigben was a part of the TeraGrid. System architecture BigBen was a Cray XT3 MPP system with 2068 compute nodes linked by a custom-designed interconnect. Twenty-two dedicated IO processors were also connected to this network. Each compute node had two 2.6 GHz AMD Opteron processors. Each compute processor had its own cache, but the two processors on a node shared 2 GB of memory and the network connection. Operating system Bigben ran Catamount, a subset of Unix.
