Big Three (Sweden)
The Big Three (Clubs) ( sv, De tre största (klubbarna)) is a phrase used to refer to the three most successful football clubs in Sweden by authors, journalists, club representatives, and supporters. The three clubs AIK from Stockholm, IFK Göteborg from Gothenburg, and Malmö FF from Malmö have a combined 50 out of 119 Swedish championship titles, 30 out of 64 Svenska Cupen titles, and occupy the top three places in the All-time Allsvenskan table. Malmö FF lead the all-time Allsvenskan table, but AIK have played the most seasons in the highest league. The three have led the all-time table for 83 out of 95 seasons, and no other club has led the table since 1937. As for championship titles, the Malmö side have 20, IFK Göteborg have 18, while AIK is trailing with 12 in fourth place, behind IFK Norrköping and their 13 titles. Friends Arena
Nationalarenan, currently known as Friends Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a retractable roof multi-purpose stadium in Stockholm, Sweden. Located next to the lake Råstasjön in Solna, just north of the City Centre, it is the biggest stadium in Scandinavia. Since its opening, the venue has served as Sweden's national stadium for men's football, hence the name ''Nationalarenan''. The main tenants of the stadium are Sweden's men's national football team and Allsvenskan football club AIK; both relocated from their previous home at the Råsunda Stadium. The venue has a total capacity of 65,000 at concerts and 50,000 seated at football matches, but the stadium can be scaled down to provide for smaller events with approximately 20,000 guests. Svenska Supercupen
Svenska Supercupen, ''Swedish Super Cup'', was a one-off fixture in Swedish football played between the Allsvenskan champions and the winners of Svenska Cupen. The fixture was played in November, after the Allsvenskan season. In the event of a club winning the double (as AIK did in 2009 and Helsingborg in 2011) the runner up of the Allsvenskan would take part. In 2011, Helsingborgs IF became the first team to have won Svenska Supercupen and not being the defending Allsvenskan champions. The winner of Svenska Supercupen received a prize money of 250,000 SEK. The 2015 match, which became the last edition, was played on 8 November at Nya Parken, Norrköping where league winners IFK Norrköping competed against cup winners IFK Göteborg. Svenska Mästerskapet
Svenska Mästerskapet was a Swedish football competition held as a cup to decide the Swedish Champions between 1896 and 1925. It was held during a short period, and all games were often played in either Gothenburg or Stockholm. For many years only teams from Gothenburg and Stockholm participated. The Swedish Championship knockout competition was last played in 1925. The 1924–1925 season saw the start of the nationwide league Allsvenskan, and from the 1930–1931 season the Allsvenskan winners have been crowned Swedish Champions, except for the years 1982–1990 when Allsvenskan was followed by the Swedish Championship Playoffs and 1991 and 1992 when Allsvenskan was followed by Mästerskapsserien, both to determine the Swedish Champions. Allsvenskan Play-offs
The Allsvenskan play-offs was a Swedish football cup held to decide the Swedish football champions between 1982 and 1990. The cup was created to increase the average attendance for Allsvenskan since public interest had dropped remarkably in the previous years. The four best placed teams in Allsvenskan qualified for the cup. The cup was succeeded by Mästerskapsserien to decide the champions. The Sweden national football team ( sv, svenska fotbollslandslaget) represents Sweden in men's international football and it is controlled by the Swedish Football Association, the governing body of football in Sweden. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. ''Offside'' is a Swedish bimonthly football magazine. The magazine takes its name from the football law of the same name. History and profile ''Offside'' was started in March 2000.
