Big Ten Volleyball
Big Ten volleyball is made up of the women's volleyball programs from the Big Ten's 14 member universities. Through 2021, the Big Ten has earned a combined 36 NCAA national semifinal appearances by eight different teams. In 1987, Illinois became the first Big Ten program to make an appearance in the national semifinal. In 1999 Penn State won the conference's first national championship, and they have won seven overall, including a record four consecutive titles from 2007 to 2010. Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin (four times) have each made national championship game appearances. In 2011, former Big 12 member Nebraska joined the Big Ten. Big Ten Conference
The Big Ten Conference (stylized B1G, formerly the Western Conference and the Big Nine Conference) is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. Founded as the Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives in 1896, it predates the founding of its regulating organization, the NCAA. It is based in the Chicago area in Rosemont, Illinois. For many decades the conference consisted of 10 universities, and it has 14 members and 2 affiliate institutions. Michigan State University
Michigan State University (Michigan State, MSU) is a public university, public Land-grant university, land-grant research university in East Lansing, Michigan. Steve Aird
Steve A. Aird (born January 26, 1978) is a Canadian volleyball coach at Indiana University (2018–present). He was previously the head volleyball coach at the University of Maryland from 2014-2017. Personal life Aird was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and received his degree in Letters, Arts and Sciences with a focus on business law and sports management in 2001. He is married to Brandy Wilson Aird. Steve and Brandy have three kids, Caelan, Padraic and Mackenzie. Shane Davis is an American comic book artist best known for his work on Superman and Batman for DC Comics. Career Shane Davis attended The Kubert School in his hometown of Dover, New Jersey. He entered the comics industry in 2003 at DC Comics by illustrating ''Robin'' #110 and a spot illustration in '' JLA-Z'' #3. Jim Barnes (volleyball)
James Martin Barnes (April 8, 1886 – May 24, 1966) was an English golfer and a leading figure in the early years of professional golf in the United States. He is one of three native Britons (with Tommy Armour and Rory McIlroy) to win three different modern major professional championships. Early life Barnes was born on April 8, 1886 in Lelant, Cornwall. Barnes was like many golfers of his era, and worked as a caddie and a club-maker's apprentice while growing up. Erin Virtue (born April 13, 1983) is an American volleyball head coach at Michigan and assistant coach for the United States women's national volleyball team. Early life Virtue attended St. Francis High School where she helped lead the team to back-to-back Suburban Catholic Conference Championships. She was named to the 2000 all-state team by the Chicago Tribune and all-area teams by the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Herald and the Naperville Sun. College career Virtue played college volleyball at Illinois. As a true freshman in 2001, she played in 14 matches on the season, as both a setter and as a defensive specialist, and recorded 88 assists. Dave Shondell (born January 17, 1958) is the head women's volleyball coach at Purdue University. Shondell was raised in Muncie, Indiana. He began his career at Daleville High School in Daleville, Indiana, just outside Muncie. After his tenure there, he then moved to Muncie Central High School, in Muncie. While at Muncie Central and Daleville, he earned about 600 wins with roughly a .850 winning percentage, 4 state championships, and a mythical national runner-up. He was also recognized as the 2002 National Coach of the Year by Prepvolleyball.com. He took over as director the Munciana Volleyball Club while at Muncie Central.
