The Big Rivers Conference, or BRC, is a high school athletic conference in Western Wisconsin. It participates in the WIAA. Wisconsin
Wisconsin () is a state in the upper Midwestern United States. Wisconsin is the 25th-largest state by total area and the 20th-most populous. Superior High School (Wisconsin)
Superior High School (SHS) is one of two high schools in Superior, Wisconsin, the other being Maranatha Academy. The School District of Superior opened SHS in 1965 as Superior Senior High School (SSHS) to replace East and Central High Schools. Those schools became middle schools, which were both closed and torn down in 2003. (An office building built on part of Central's site was completed in 2008 and a housing project was built on East's site, the last lot being developed in 2012). The high school serves about 1,600 students in grades 9–12 with a staff of around 150. SHS' mission is to "Provide all children with the relevant tools to develop a foundation for living, learning and working successfully." Wausau West High School
Wausau West High School is a public high school serving students in grades 9 to 12 of the Wausau School District. It was built in 1970 on the west side of the city of Wausau, Wisconsin to accommodate the growing city population. Its enrollment is approximately 1,775. Its rival school is Wausau East High School. History The first high school in Wausau was built in 1889 and later replaced by a larger building, Wausau High School, in 1898. By the mid-20th century the school was beginning to become overcrowded. This was exacerbated by a state law passed in the early 1960s that integrated schools from surrounding areas into the Wausau School District. By the end of the decade, the school district decided to build a second high school on the west side, and in 1970 Wausau's second high school opened its doors. Wausau East High School
Wausau East High School is a public secondary school in Wausau, Wisconsin. It serves grades 9-12 for the Wausau School District. History The first high school in Wausau was a two-room school house built in 1880 and occupied by multiple grades. When Washington School was erected as the high school in 1889 for $12,400, the city thought the school was too big. In 1897, when the school became overcrowded, five rooms in the court house were rented for classroom space. In 1898, a new high school was built at the cost of $65,000 by Van Ryn and DeGelleke of Milwaukee, on the corner of Seventh and Eighth Streets. Far from the center of the city, many city residents complained that it was too distant and others thought it was too large. The school opened its doors in 1900. Charles C. Parlin, the school's first principal, served until 1911. That school became known as Wausau High School until 1936, when it became Wausau Senior High School. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) is the regulatory body for all high school sports in Wisconsin.
