Big Brother (Croatian Season 1)
''Big Brother 1'' is the first season of the Croatian reality television series ''Big Brother'' that premiered on 18 September 2004 and ending on 26 December 2004, and ran for 100 days. It received high ratings and proved to be one of the rare successes for RTL Televizija in its first six months on Croatian television markets. Despite the huge commercial success and becoming a cultural phenomenon of its season, the first season was subjected to much criticism. Andrija Hebrang, Croatian health minister at the time, complained about contestants smoking while the programme on air, which was against Croatian laws. In response to this, later live broadcasts were time-delayed. The show also created minor controversy due to a single homophobic statement ("If I knew I had a fag friend, I would kill him. RTL Televizija
RTL (previously known as RTL Televizija) is a Croatian free-to-air television network founded on 30 April 2004. It was owned by the RTL Group from 2004 to 2022. Since 1 June 2022, it is owned by the CME Group. The logo consisted of three primary colours: Red, Yellow, and Blue. This is the second commercial television network in Croatia that has a national concession, following Nova TV. On 15 May 2014, RTL Group announced that Henning Tewes, Managing Director of news provider Enex, would be appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RTL Hrvatska as of 1 July 2014. Tewes succeeds Johannes Züll, who left the RTL Group to become president and CEO of Studio Hamburg. As a result of a proposal from Henning Tewes, Ivan Lovreček, former editor-in-chief and member of the Executive Board of RTL Hrvatska, was promoted to Deputy CEO of the company on 1 July 2014. ''Big Brother 2'' is the second season of the Croatian reality television series '' Big Brother'' that premiered on 4 September to 30 December 2005, and ran for 118 days. Season summary The second season had radical changes in the format of the show — the number of contestants was initially raised from 12 to 14; the pace of evictions and nominations was accelerated, and numbers of contestants were introduced at later stages. The composition of contestants was different—they were much younger, less educated and generally perceived to be less mature. They also tended to represent various sections of the Croatian population, missing in the previous season. This was most evident with Matko Okmažić from Omiš, the 25-year-old son of the restaurant owner, later revealed to be the candidate of far-right parties at local elections. Reality television is a genre of television programming that documents purportedly unscripted real-life situations, often starring unfamiliar people rather than professional actors. ''Big Brother'' is a Dutch reality competition television franchise created by John de Mol Jr., first broadcast in the Netherlands in 1999, and subsequently syndicated internationally. The show features contestants called "housemates" or "HouseGuests" who live together in a specially constructed house that is isolated from the outside world. Andrija Hebrang (son)
Andrija Hebrang (; born 27 January 1946) is a Croatian physician and politician. A member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), he is a former member of the Croatian Parliament. A physician by vocation, Hebrang had served three terms as Croatia's Minister of Health (1990–1992, 1993–1998, and 2003–2005) and spent three months as Minister of Defence (May–October 1998) under six different Prime Ministers. Antonija Blaće (; born 2 October 1979), better known under her maiden surname, is a Croatian TV host and a former contestant of first Croatian season of '' Big Brother''. She is known for her eviction from the ''Big Brother'' house one week before the show's final. She became a regular host since the second season and has since hosted every season of the show.
