Big Bang Discography
South Korean boy band Big Bang have released eight studio albums, eight extended plays, two reissues, eight compilation albums, ten live albums, seven single albums, and 36 singles. As of May 2017, the group has sold over 4.3 million physical albums in South Korea and Japan alone. BigBang's debut studio album was released in December 2006. It spawned several singles, including "La La La" and "A Fool's Only Tears". The group achieved commercial success with " Lies", the lead single of their first extended play, ''Always'' (2007), which topped the Melon Chart for six consecutive weeks. Their second and third extended plays followed their predecessor's success; '' Hot Issue'' (2007) yielded " Last Farewell" while ''Stand Up'' (2008) spawned " Haru Haru", which topped the Melon Chart for eight and seven consecutive weeks, respectively. BigBang (South Korean Band)
BigBang (; stylized in all caps) is a South Korean boy band formed by YG Entertainment. The group consists of four members: G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung. Originally a five-piece band, Seungri retired from the entertainment industry in March 2019. Dubbed the "Honorific nicknames in popular music, Kings of K-pop", they helped spread the Korean Wave internationally and are considered one of the most influential acts in K-pop. They are known for their trendsetting musical experimentation, self-production, and stage presence. The Oricon Singles Chart is the Japanese music industry-standard singles popularity chart issued daily, weekly, monthly and yearly by Oricon. Chart rankings are based on physical singles' sales. Until 2017, Oricon did not track download sales. In Japan, physical sales decreased sharply in the 2000s, while download sales hit three to four times the amount of single sales. In November 2017, Oricon introduced its first digital songs chart, separate from its main physical singles chart. In November 2018, Oricon launched a streaming chart, and introduced a combined singles chart that utilizes physical single sales, downloads, and streams. Original Confidence Inc., the original Oricon company, was founded by the former Snow Brand Milk Products promoter Sōkō Koike in 1967. "My Heaven" is the first Japanese single by South Korean boy band, Big Bang released under YG Entertainment and Universal Music Japan. , established in 1999, is the holding company at the head of a Japanese corporate group that supplies statistics and information on music and the music industry in Japan and Western music. It started as, which was founded by Sōkō Koike in November 1967 and became known for its music charts. Oricon Inc. was originally set up as a subsidiary of Original Confidence and took over the latter's Oricon record charts in April 2002. ''Big Bang'' (also known as ''1st Japanese Album'') is the second Japanese studio album by South Korean boy band BigBang (South Korean band), BigBang, and was released on August 19, 2009. Production Production of the album started from the release of the group's first Japanese single, "My Heaven (Big Bang song), My Heaven", in June 2009. The song enjoyed mild success; afterwards, the group's second single was released, "Gara Gara Go!, ガラガラ GO!!" (Gara Gara Go!!), and approximately a month later, the single had sold over 30,000 copies. BigBang finished recording the album by the end of July. The song "Love Club" is the only track sung entirely in English. Commercial performance ''Big Bang'' debuted on the daily Oricon charts at number 2 with over 12,000 copies being sold on the first day. Background After experiencing breakthrough success in their home country with the song " Lies" and " Last Farewell", BigBang expanded their endeavors to Japan, hoping to produce similar results. In 2009, American music publishing company Sony/ATV Music Publishing accused YG Entertainment of plagiarism, and listed four songs recorded by several of YG's artists as having been plagiarized. Lee Seung-hyun (; born December 12, 1990), better known by his stage names Seungri (Hangul: ) and V.I (when performing in Japan), is a former South Korean singer, songwriter, actor, businessman and sex offender convicted of facilitating prostitution, sexual bribery and embezzlement in the Burning Sun scandal.
