Biff Schlitzer
Victor Joseph "Biff" Schlitzer (December 4, 1884 – January 4, 1948) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from through for the Philadelphia Athletics (1908–09) and Boston Red Sox (1909) of the American League, and with the Buffalo Buffeds of the Federal League (1914). Listed at , , Schlitzer batted and threw right-handed. A native of Rochester, New York, he attended University of Dayton. In a three-season career, Schlitzer posted a 10–15 record with 87 strikeouts and a 3.60 earned run average in 44 appearances, including 29 starts, 16 complete games, two shutouts, one save, and innings of work. Schlitzer died on January 4, 1948, at the age of 63 in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Complete Game
In baseball, a complete game (CG) is the act of a pitcher pitching an entire game without the benefit of a relief pitcher. A pitcher who meets this criterion will be credited with a complete game regardless of the number of innings played—pitchers who throw an entire official game that is shortened by rain will still be credited with a complete game, while starting pitchers who are relieved in extra innings after throwing nine or more innings will not be credited with a complete game. A starting pitcher who is replaced by a pinch hitter in the final half inning of a game will still be credited with a complete game. The frequency of complete games has evolved since the early days of baseball. The complete game was essentially an expectation in the early 20th century and pitchers completed almost all of the games they started. The Troy Trojans are the sports teams of Troy University. They began playing in the NCAA's Division I-A in 2001, became a football only member of the Sun Belt Conference in 2004, and joined that conference for all other sports in 2005. Troy University's athletics nickname was the Red Wave until the early 1970s when the student body voted to change the name to Trojans.
