The Men's 10 kilometre sprint biathlon competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy was held on 14 February, at Cesana San Sicario. Competitors raced over three loops of the 3.3 kilometre skiing course, shooting ten times, five prone and five standing. Each miss required a competitor to ski a 150-metre penalty loop. Cesana San Sicario, located in Cesana, Italy is a location of a venue for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The biathlon facility is built for 6,500 spectators. The accommodation is located in Cesana an lies in a large ski area named Via Lattea. It is directly connected to the winter venues in Monginevro and Sestriere. Maxim Alexandrovich Chudov (russian: Максим Александрович Чудов; born 12 November 1982) is a former Russian biathlete. Career He debuted in the Biathlon World Cup in the 2004/05 season and has since been a regular member of the Russian team. He has won a total of seven medals at World Championships, three gold, three silver, and one bronze. Graduated from the law faculty of the Bashkir State University. Sergei Tchepikov
Sergei Vladimirovich Tchepikov (russian: Серге́й Влади́мирович Че́пиков; born 30 January 1967) is a Russian politician and a former Soviet-Russian biathlete and cross-country skier who competed at six Winter Olympics, five in biathlon (1988, 1992, 1994, 2002 and 2006) and one in cross-country skiing (1998). His last Olympic performance was a silver medal in the 4 × 7.5 km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Tchepikov has two World Cup titles (1989/90, 1990/91). He has had 25 podium finishes, six in first place, thirteen in second, and has come third six times. In the Olympics, Tchepikov has two gold, three silver, and one bronze medals. Tomasz Sikora
Tomasz Sikora (born 21 December 1973) is a former Polish biathlete. Life and career Sikora was born in Wodzisław Śląski. In 1993, he finished second in 10 km sprint at the Junior World Championships in Ruhpolding. He was world champion in 1995 (20 km), runner-up in the world championships in 2004 (also 20 km) and bronze medalist in 1997 (team competition). On 25 February 2006 he was placed second in the 15 km mass start at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, winning the second and final medal for Poland in those Olympics. On 23 March 2006 Sikora won the IBU World Cup sprint title, beating Ole Einar Bjørndalen by 5 points. Stian Eckhoff
Stian Kampenhaug Eckhoff (born 3 September 1979) is a former Norwegian biathlete. He has 2 World Cup victories and in the 2004–05 season, Eckhoff placed tenth overall. Since his retirement he has become involved in coaching the Norwegian national biathlon team, and was appointed head coach of the Norwegian women's biathlon programme ahead of the 2014–15 season. Christoph Sumann
Christoph "Sumi" Sumann (19 January 1976) is a former Austrian biathlete. Life and career As was the case with many of his fellow biathletes, Sumann switched over from cross-country skiing, which he had been doing since childhood. By the mid-1990s had he entered junior ski team of Austria and later on progressed to senior level. He was a skillful sprinter at the time. Sumann began as a biathlete in 2000 and would compete in biathlon at the top level for 11 seasons. His first World Cup win came in 2002–03 season and he finished 15th in the World Cup total. In 2006–07 Biathlon World Cup Sumann won the a mass start race and wore the red bib of the leader of the mass start cup up until the last stage of the season, the fact is quite outstanding for Austrians in biathlon despite the fact that he eventually lost it to Ole Einar Bjørndalen, who thus won the mass start world cup that season.
