South Tyrol Arena
The South Tyrol Arena (in Italian ''Arena Alto Adige''; in German ''Südtirol Arena'') is a biathlon stadium in the municipality of Rasen-Antholz, in South Tyrol (Italy). The facility will host the biathlon competitions of the 2026 Winter Olympics of Milan-Cortina. History The facility, which began construction in 1969 and opened in 1971, has regularly hosted a stage of the Biathlon World Cup, as well as six editions of the Biathlon World Championships (1975, 1976, 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2020) and two editions of the Biathlon Junior World Championships (1975 and 1983). The stadium was modernized from 2006: the grandstand for spectators was enlarged and a building was built for the competition judges. Ekaterina Viktorovna Yurlova-Percht (russian: Екатери́на Ви́кторовна Ю́рлова-Перхт, born 23 February 1985) is a Russian biathlete. She debuted at the World Cup in 2008. In 2015, she won World Championships at 15 km individual distance, which was her first victory at the World Cup. On 17 October 2015, Yurlova married Josef Percht, masseur of the Austrian biathlon team. Since then she is known as Yurlova-Percht. On 13 November 2016, she gave birth to Kira. Career She won the gold medal in the sprint competition at the 2013 European Championships. Kaisa Leena Mäkäräinen (born 11 January 1983) is a Finnish former world-champion and 3-time world-cup-winning biathlete, who currently competes for Kontiolahden Urheilijat. Outside sports, Mäkäräinen is currently studying to be a Physics teacher at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. Her team coach is Jonne Kähkönen, while Jarmo Punkkinen is her ski coach. Career Mäkäräinen was originally a cross-country skier and focused on this until the age of twenty. She started training for the biathlon in 2003. Svetlana Igorevna Mironova (russian: Светлана Игоревна Миронова; born 22 February 1994) is a Russian biathlete. Career Mironova was engaged in cross-country skiing until 2011, when she decided to switch competing in biathlon. At the 2013 Junior World Championships in Obertilliach, she became the relay champion alongside teammates Victoria Slivko and Uliana Kaisheva. In the same championship, she won bronze in the sprint, was 11th in the pursuit and 24th in the individual race. In 2014, at the U21 European Championships, she took second place in the sprint and became the champion in the pursuit. Yuliia Dzhima ( uk, Юлія Валентинівна Джима; born 19 September 1990) is a Ukrainian World Cup level biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, multiple World championships medalist.
