Bhubaneswar Kalita (born 1 April 1951) is an Indian social worker, politician and was a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) elected from Assam being an Indian National Congress candidate. He quit his party on 5 August citing the party is opposed to national interest and is paving its own way for destruction. He joined BJP on 9 August 2019. Rangiya
Rangia is a city and a municipal board in Kamrup rural district in the Indian state of Assam. It is the regional divisional headquarters of the Northeast Frontier Railway. It is situated 52 kilometres away from the state headquarters Dispur Guwahati and 39 kilometres from Jalukbari. Etymology The word Rangia has been derived from "Randiya" ("Ran" means 'war' and "Diya" means 'to give') i.e. a place where war happened between Boros and Bhutanese. The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Assam elects 7 seats since 1956 (one more than 1952-1956). Members are indirectly elected by state legislators (elected politicians) of Assam. The number of the seven seats allocated to each party is proportional to the legislators' number at the time of nomination. Each party in Assam thus meeting a minimum quota of of the local seats nominates a member; if a party has to ths of the local seats those legislators select two members (and so forth).
