Bhishmadev Chakrabortty
Bhishmadev Chakrabortty (born 2 June 1967) is a Bangladeshi justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. He was appointed in 2015. Early life Chakrabortty completed his bachelors and masters in law from the University of Dhaka. He enrolled a lawyer of the district court on 11 October 1993. Career Chakrabortty became a lawyer of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court on 28 January 1995. On 24 August 2010, Chakrabortty became a lawyer of the Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Chakrabortty on 12 February 2015 was appointed a judge on the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. Chakrabortty and Justice Md Ruhul Quddus on 15 December 2015, conformed the 15 year sentence handed down to Osman Gani, former chief conservator of forest, on corruption charges. The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. The Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, বাংলাদেশ সুপ্রীম কোর্ট) is the highest court of law in Bangladesh. It is composed of the High Court Division and the Appellate Division, and was created by Part VI Chapter I (article 94) of the Constitution of Bangladesh adopted in 1972. The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh is the appellate court in Bangladesh. The Appellate Division is the final court of appeal for all civil and criminal cases, with appellate review authority over judgements of the High Court Division. Lt. Gen. Hussain Muhammad Ershad ( bn, হুসেইন মুহাম্মদ এরশাদ; 1 February 1930 – 14 July 2019) was a Bangladeshi Army Chief politician who served as the President of Bangladesh from 1983 to 1990, a time many consider to have been a military dictatorship. He seized power as head of the army during a bloodless coup against President Abdus Sattar on 24 March 1982 (by imposing martial law and suspending the Constitution). He declared himself President in 1983, and subsequently won the controversial 1986 Bangladeshi presidential election. Despite claims to have legitimately won the 1986 election, many consider his regime as an era of military dictatorship. Murder Of Biswajit Das
Biswajit Das was a 24-year-old tailor in Dhaka, Bangladesh, who was murdered on 9 December 2012 by members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the governing Awami League party. On that day there was a nationwide road blockade, called by the opposition 18 Party Alliance. That morning, Das was on his way to his shop, Amantron Tailors at Shankhari Bazaar in Old Dhaka, when one or more small bombs exploded near an anti-blockade procession of BCL activists from Jagannath University. A group of them mistook Das for an opposition supporter and chased him from near Bahadur Shah Park into a nearby building. They attacked him with machetes, iron bars, and hockey sticks.
