''Times and Winds '' or ( tr, Beş Vakit) is a 2006 Turkish drama film directed and written by Reha Erdem. The film premiered in the United States on January 11, 2008. Plot In a small village in the mountains overlooking the sea the people struggle to survive on a daily basis. Their lives, like those of their ancestors, follow the rhythms of the earth, air and water, of day and night and the seasons, with days divided into five parts by the call to prayer. Childhood is difficult and a father typically has a preference of one son over the other. Reha Erdem (born 1960 in Istanbul) is a Turkish film director and screenwriter. Biography He attended Galatasaray High School and studied history at Boğaziçi University before leaving to study film in 1983. He obtained a B.A. in Cinema Studies and an M.A. in Plastic Arts from the University of Paris VIII. Yiğit Özşener ( born 6 April 1972) is a Turkish actor. Biography His family originates on paternal side from Turkish immigrants in Kavala (Ottoman Empire, now in Greece), and on maternal side from Turkish immigrants in Skopje, Macedonia. Özşener graduated from Yıldız Technical University with a degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1996.
