''Beyond London Lights'' is a lost 1928 American silent drama film directed by Tom Terriss and starring Adrienne Dore, Lee Shumway, and Bill Elliott. It is based on John Joy Bell's 1917 novel '' Kitty Carstairs'', and is sometimes referred to by that title. It was made by Film Booking Offices of America. Tom Terriss
Thomas Herbert F. Lewin (28 September 1872 – 8 February 1964), known professionally as Tom Terriss, was a British actor, screenwriter, and film director. After trying various occupations, he became an actor playing a variety of roles, beginning in 1890, in plays, pantomime and Edwardian musical comedy. After the First World War, he left the stage and pursued a decade-long film career. He was the brother of the musical comedy star Ellaline Terriss and son of leading man actor William Terriss. Life and career Terriss was born in Barnes, London, son of the actor William Terriss (né Lewin) and his wife Isabel (née Lewis). He was educated at Christ's Hospital, and being, in his own words, "like his father before him … of roving disposition", he tried several occupations before becoming an actor. Herbert Evans (actor)
Herbert Evans (16 April 1882 – 10 February 1952) was an English film actor. He appeared in over 180 films between 1916 and 1952. Biography Evans started his acting career in 1914 at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. His performances include the Earl of Glenheather Castle in The Three Stooges comedy ''The Hot Scots'' and its remake '' Scotched in Scotland'', the well-meaning but clueless butler Wilkes in ''Vagabond Loafers’’ and in the ''Our Gang'' short ''Shrimps for a Day''. In addition to his work in short subjects, Evans appeared—often uncredited—in such films as ''Casablanca'', '' Strangers on a Train'', '' Annie Get Your Gun'' and ''Song of the Thin Man''. He also had bit roles in the Shirley Temple vehicles ''Curly Top'' and ''Wee Willie Winkie''. Evans died on 10 February 1952 shortly after filming for '' The Brigand'' was completed.
