Reginald Bevins
John Reginald Bevins (20 August 1908 – 16 November 1996) was a British Conservative politician who served as a Liverpool Member of Parliament (MP) for fourteen years. He served in the governments of the 1950s and 1960s, playing an important role in establishing independent television. Early life Born in Liverpool, Lancashire, Bevins was one of five children. He was educated at the Dovedale Road School and then at Liverpool Collegiate School. He joined the insurance business, and also became interested in politics: he joined the Labour Party. In 1935 he was elected to Liverpool City Council. Wartime service At the outbreak of the Second World War, Bevins enlisted in the Royal Artillery. He served as a gunner in 1940, and was stationed in the middle-east and in Europe. He completed his tour of duty as a Major in the Royal Army Service Corps, and became a strong supporter of the Conservative Party. Vincent Bevins is an American journalist and writer. From 2011 to 2016, he worked as a foreign correspondent based in Brazil for the ''Los Angeles Times'', after working previously in London for the ''Financial Times''. In 2017 he moved to Jakarta and began covering Southeast Asia for ''The Washington Post,'' and in 2018 began writing a book about Cold War violence in Indonesia and Latin America. His work has mostly focused on international politics, the world economy, and global culture. Ralph Bevins
Ralph E. "Ike" Bevins (1924–2017) was an American ice hockey goaltender who captained Boston University to their appearance in the 1950 national championship game. Career After graduating from Arlington High School, Bevins joined the Navy during World War II. After the war he began attending Boston University and joined both the baseball and hockey teams. In his senior season Bevins was named captain of the hockey team just in time for the program to return to varsity status. Bevins led the team to the 1950 NCAA Tournament and played a masterful game in net in the semifinal. BU defeated tournament favorite Michigan 4–3 with Bevins making 36 saves in the game. The team could not keep the same pace in the championship tilt, losing to Colorado College 4–13. Despite surrendering 13 goals, Bevins' performance in both games earned him the Tournament MOP. Stuart Bevins
Stuart Roy Bevins (born 8 March 1967) is an English former first-class cricketer who played a handful of matches for Worcestershire between 1989 and 1991; he later also had two List A game for Herefordshire, in 1995 and 1997. Bevins came to prominence aged 18 in August 1985, when he captained, and kept wicket for, the Warwickshire Young Amateurs team which beat Lancashire Federation Under-19s to win the 1985 Oxford and Cambridge Festival. He dismissed three players, and two whom he stumped were to go on to have long careers in the game: future England captain Mike Atherton and Nick Speak. By 1987, Bevins was a regular in Worcestershire's second team, and that continued the following season as he waited for his break.
