Beverly National Cemetery
Beverly National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in Edgewater Park Township, in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses , and as 2021 had over 50,000 interments. History The original cemetery was only a single acre off of Beverly's Monument Cemetery, purchased from a local resident in 1863 for the purpose of interring Union Army casualties who died in the Beverly United States Army hospital (run for the duration of the Civil War). Additional land was acquired in 1936, 1937, 1948, and 1951. It served as a burial ground only for those veterans who died in nearby hospitals, until space in the nearby Philadelphia National Cemetery became limited, and many interments that would have been made there were made at Beverly instead. Edgewater Park, New Jersey
Edgewater Park is a township in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States and a northeastern Delaware Valley suburb of Philadelphia. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 8,881, reflecting an increase of 1,017 (+12.9%) from the 7,864 counted in the 2000 Census. Socks Seibold
Harry "Socks" Seibold (May 31, 1896 – September 21, 1965) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Braves (baseball), Boston Braves. Seibold debuted in 1915 with the Athletics as a shortstop, but was converted to pitcher in 1916. He played parts of 1916, 1917, and 1919 for the Athletics, and then spent the next nine years out of the major leagues. Seibold resurfaced in 1929 with the Boston Braves (baseball), Boston Braves. For four seasons, he was a regular in the Braves' rotation, and in 1930 set his career high in innings pitched with 250, wins with 15 and strikeouts with 70. His last season came with the Braves in 1933. A corporal with the United States Army during World War I, Seibold was buried at the Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, New Jersey. Lester Joseph Damon (March 31, 1908 – July 21, 1962) was an American character actor best known for his nearly 30 years performing on radio. Out of all his appearances on radio, Damon was best remembered for his roles as Nick Charles on ''The Adventures of the Thin Man'' from 1941-1943 and again from 1946-1950 on NBC then CBS and as Michael Waring on '' The Falcon'' from 1950-1953 on Mutual. Early years Damon was born on March 31, 1908, in Providence, Rhode Island. He attended and graduated from Brown University. Early career Damon began acting in the early 1930s traveling with different stock companies in and out of the United States. Damon first started acting with the Albee Stock Company in Providence.
