Beverley Harper
Beverley Harper (1941 – 9 August 2002) was an Australian author of novels set in Africa. Born in Bulli, New South Wales in 1941, Harper visited Africa in 1967. Although she meant to stay for only one year, she lived there until 1988, when she returned to Australia. Most of her novels were translated into German and published by Bastei Lübbe. Her final novel, ''Footprints of Lion'', was completed by her husband after her death from cancer in 2002. Bulli, New South Wales
Bulli ( ) is a northern suburb of Wollongong situated on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. History Bulli is possibly derived from an Aboriginal word signifying "double or two mountains", but other derivations have been suggested. Originally inhabited by Dharawal Aboriginal people, European wood cutters worked in the area from about 1815. The area was once abundant in Red Cedars, these are now still seen but thinly. The first permanent European settler was Cornelius O'Brien, who established a farm in 1823 and whose name was given in the pass at O'Briens Road south at Figtree. Bulli soil is also the primary source of soil and foundation of Sydney Cricket Ground, which makes the SCG being seen traditionally as one of the most spin-friendly international cricket grounds in Australia. Bastei Lübbe is a major publisher of genre fiction, pulp fiction and non-fiction in the German language. It is based in Cologne, Germany. As of 2010, it was the largest independent book publisher in Germany, and it claims to be one of the three largest audiobook publishers in Germany. History The company was begun in 1953 by newspaper editor Gustav H. Lübbe, when he became the publisher of the insolvent Cologne-based company, Bastei-Verlag.
