Between the Buried and Me, often abbreviated as BTBAM, is an American progressive metal band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Formed in 2000, the band consists of Tommy Giles Rogers Jr. (lead vocals, keyboards), Paul Waggoner (lead guitar, backing vocals), Dustie Waring (rhythm guitar, lead guitar), Dan Briggs (bass, keyboards), and Blake Richardson (drums). Their debut eponymous album was released through Lifeforce Records in 2002, shifting to Victory Records for subsequent releases until their signing to Metal Blade in 2011, where Between the Buried and Me released their first extended play, '' The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues'' that year, and its full-length follow-up '' The Parallax II: Future Sequence'' the following year. Paul Waggoner
Paul Andrew Waggoner is the lead guitarist of American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. A fan of progressive music, he is heavily inspired by John Petrucci, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth and Steve Vai, amongst others. He formerly played guitar in the metalcore bands, From Here On and Prayer for Cleansing. He had also played live guitar as needed for Lamb of God between 2010 and 2014. Style Waggoner's playing is heavily influenced by a wide variety of styles—in his work with Between the Buried and Me, he often combines elements of metal, progressive rock, jazz and bluegrass. Personal life Waggoner is vegan and straight edge. Waggoner also owns and operates Nightflyer Roastworks (formerly Parliament Coffee Roasters), as well as Queen City Grounds, a small-batch specialty grade coffee roastery and cafe, respectively, based in Charlotte, NC. Daniel Hanford Briggs (born September 27, 1984) is a musician from Erie, Pennsylvania, best known for playing bass guitar for the American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. In addition to his bass duties with Between the Buried and Me, he also plays bass for jazz fusion band Trioscapes and progressive rock band Nova Collective as well as both guitar and bass in the band Orbs. ''Automata I'' is the eighth studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. It was released on March 9, 2018, through Sumerian Records, their first release with the label. It is the first part of a two-piece album; the second, ''Automata II'', was released on July 13, 2018. Between the Buried and Me began recording the album on July 31, 2017, and finished on September 6, 2017, announcing it in January 2018 with 2018 tour dates set with The Dear Hunter and Leprous. ''Coma Ecliptic'' is the seventh studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, released on July 10, 2015 through Metal Blade Records. The band first announced the album through Twitter on September 8, 2014 saying "It has begun! #rockopera". Similar to previous releases by the band, ''Coma Ecliptic'' is a concept album. The first single, "Memory Palace" was released on April 3, 2015. Overview The band has stated that the concept of ''Coma Ecliptic'' involves a man stuck in a coma, journeying through his past lives. It was added that the man faces a choice to either stay or move on to something better. Each song is its own episode in a fashion similar to "The Twilight Zone". ''Between the Buried and Me'' is the debut studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. It was produced by Jamie King and was released on April 30, 2002 through Lifeforce Records. Background Between the Buried and Me formed in 2000 in Raleigh, North Carolina after the demise of metalcore bands From Here On and Prayer for Cleansing, which Rogers, Waggoner, and Goodyear had been members of. Guitarist Nick Fletcher and bassist Jason King would subsequently join the band. In 2001, the band would record a demo featuring the songs "What We Have Become", "More of Myself to Kill" and "The Use of a Weapon"; these three songs would be re-recorded for ''Between the Buried and Me''. Shane Blay
Shane Blay is an American guitarist and vocalist that performs primarily metalcore. He has performed with bands such as Oh, Sleeper, Between the Buried and Me, and Wovenwar. Background Blay started his musical career in the late 1990s/early 2000s, with the band Evelynn. The band released a split EP before hiring on Nick Hipa. Blay knew Hipa since the age of 15. The band was signed to Pluto Records. The band disbanded in 2004 and the members went on their separate ways. Blay alongside Micah Kinard, James Erwin, Lucas Starr, and Ryan Conley formed the band Oh, Sleeper. The band has reached a decent amount of success, but Blay has stated that, contrary to popular belief, the band doesn't make much money.
