Betty Morris (bowler)
Betty Ruth Burton Morris-Laub (born 1948) is an American professional bowler, who won seventeen tournaments throughout her career. ''Bowlers Journal'' named her Woman Bowler of the Decade for the 1970s. A December 1999 '' Bowlers Journal International'' poll rated her as the fiftieth greatest bowler, male or female, of the twentieth century. That year twenty bowling experts polled by the ''Miami Herald'' also rated her as the sixth greatest woman bowler of the century. Life Betty Burton was born on May 10, 1948, in Sonora, California. She attended Linden High School in Linden, California and then San Joaquin Delta College. Aged 17 she won the California State Match Game title. She won her first professional tournament, the Showboat in Las Vegas, despite being six months pregnant. The National Bowling Stadium is a ten-pin bowling stadium in Reno, Nevada. The stadium is recognizable for an aluminum geodesic dome in its facade, built to resemble a large bowling ball. Nicknamed the "Taj Mahal of tenpins", the 78-lane stadium opened on February 3, 1995, cost $47.5 million, and took three years to build. It is often the filming location for bowling scenes in films. PWBA Players Championship
The PWBA Players Championship is one of the four major tournaments on the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour. Unlike the U.S. Women's Open (bowling), U.S. Women’s Open and USBC Queens, which allow qualifying amateurs to participate, the PWBA Players Championship is open to PWBA members only. Tournament history The tournament began as the PWBA Championships in 1960 and ran every year through 1979, with the exception of the 1968, 1970 and 1977 seasons. Through the split and reformation of the organization, it also took the name WPBA Championship. After a long hiatus (1980 through 1994), it returned in 1995 as the Hammer Bowling, Hammer Players Championship and ran every year through 2001. The PWBA ceased operations after the 2003 season. San Joaquin Delta College (Delta College) is a public community college in Stockton, California. It was founded in 1935 as Stockton Junior College. The college serves a district area that includes all of San Joaquin County and parts of Alameda, Calaveras, Sacramento, and Solano counties.
