Bethpage Bikeway
The Bethpage Bikeway is a 14.9-mile-long bike trail on Long Island, New York and goes through multiple state parks, notably Bethpage State Park. History In the 1930s, the New York State Department of Transportation built the Bethpage State Parkway to help residents of nearby New York City access Long Island parks. In the 1970s, the Department of Transportation built the original 6.8-mile path from the Massapequa Preserve to the Bethpage State Park playground and parking area to connect the preserve and Massapequa. The Department of Transportation did not build any new paths north of this point; however, bikers and trail walkers walked north on a dirt path. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the Department of Transportation rewarded a contract to begin new work on the trail, adding an additional 5.7 miles from the playgrounds and parking area north to nearby Syosset through the Trail View State Park right of way. Merrick Road
Merrick Road is an east–west urban arterial in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties in New York, United States. It is known as Merrick Boulevard or Floyd H. Flake Boulevard in Queens, within New York City. Merrick Road runs east from the Queens neighborhood of Jamaica through Merrick past the county line between Nassau and Suffolk into Amityville, where it becomes Montauk Highway at the Amityville–Copiague village/hamlet line. The easternmost portion of Merrick Road, from Carman Mill Road to its eastern terminus, signed as part of New York State Route 27A (NY 27A). At one time, the entire length of Merrick Road was signed as NY 27A; currently, the entire portion within Nassau County is currently designated as the unsigned County Route 27 (CR 27). ''Concerned: The Half-Life and Death of Gordon Frohman'' is a webcomic by Christopher C. Livingston that parodies the first-person shooter video game '' Half-Life 2''. The comic is illustrated with screenshots of characters posed using '' Garry's Mod'', a tool which allows manipulation of the Source engine used by ''Half-Life 2''. The comic ran from May 2005 to November 2006 and had 205 issues. While ''Half-Life 2'' follows protagonist Gordon Freeman in a dystopian future, ''Concerned'' follows "Gordon Frohman", a dangerously clumsy character who arrives in the setting of the game a few weeks before Freeman does. The webcomic's dark humor is derived from its contrasts with the game and through references to the game's shortcomings. Sunrise Highway
New York State Route 27 (NY 27) is a long state highway that runs east–west from Interstate 278 (I-278) in the New York City borough of Brooklyn to Montauk Point State Park on Long Island, New York. Its two most prominent components are Sunrise Highway and Montauk Highway, the latter of which includes the Montauk Point State Parkway. Massapequa Creek
Massapequa Creek is a long creek that runs through Nassau County, New York, and empties into South Oyster Bay. Most of the length of the creek exists within the Massapequa Preserve, a wooded area that extends from the Southern State Parkway in the north to Merrick Road in the south. The creek's headwaters extend north to Farmingdale, draining an area of . Like all other rivers on Long Island, Massapequa Creek is fed primarily by groundwater. The creek's three tributaries rise in South Farmingdale, two of which merge in a pond next to Farmingdale High School before crossing under the Southern State Parkway. Trail View State Park is a state park located on Long Island on the Nassau–Suffolk county border in New York. The linear park, created in September 2002, runs between Bethpage State Park and Cold Spring Harbor State Park. Massapequa (, ) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States.
