Bessie Toner
Elizabeth "Bessie" Toner was a motion picture and theater actress in the early 20th century. Theater Toner was married to actor Harry Childs by 1904. They were in the play ''The Sign of the Cross'' which toured beginning in the fall of 1904. She was in the cast of '' The College Widow'', a comedy satire of college life, produced by George Ade. The theatrical presentation was performed at the McDonough Theater in Oakland, California in November 1906. Louise Rutter appeared in the title role. The Henry Wilson Savage Company, with the troupe of ''The College Widow'', arrived in Portland, Maine by boat on August 24, 1906. The comedy was given in Portland before audiences at the Jefferson Theater. It also was staged in Kennebec County, Maine, at the Opera House. The stock company's travels took them west to Fresno, California and Winnipeg, Manitoba, in addition to Oakland. Benjamin Franklin Keith
Benjamin Franklin Keith (January 26, 1846 – March 26, 1914) was an American vaudeville theater owner, highly influential in the evolution of variety theater into vaudeville. Biography Early years Keith was born in Hillsboro Bridge, New Hampshire. He joined the circus (as a "candy butcher") after attending Van Amburg's Circus and then worked at Bunnell's Museum in New York City in the early 1860s. He later joined P.T. Barnum and then joined the Forepaugh Circus, before he opened a curio museum in Boston, in 1883, with Colonel William Austin. In 1885 he joined Edward Franklin Albee II, who was selling circus tickets and operating the Boston Bijou Theatre. Their opening show was on July 6, 1885. The theatre was one of the early adopters of the continuous variety show which ran from 10:00 in the morning until 11:00 at night, every day. ''The Romance of Tarzan'' is a 1918 American silent action adventure film directed by Wilfred Lucas starring Elmo Lincoln, Enid Markey, Thomas Jefferson, and Cleo Madison. The movie was the second Tarzan movie ever made, and is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' original 1912 novel ''Tarzan of the Apes''. It adapts only the second part of the novel, the earlier portion having been the basis for the preceding film ''Tarzan of the Apes'' (1918). Enid Markey (February 22, 1894 – November 15, 1981) was an American theatre, film, radio, and television actress, whose career spanned over 50 years, extending from the early 1900s to the late 1960s. In movies, she was the first performer to portray the fictional character Jane, Tarzan's "jungle" companion and later his wife. Elmo Lincoln (born Otto Elmo Linkenhelt; February 6, 1889June 27, 1952) was an American stage and film actor whose career in motion pictures spanned the silent and sound eras. He performed in over 100 screen productions between 1913 and 1952 and was the first actor to portray on film novelist Edgar Rice Burroughs' fictional "jungle" character Tarzan, initially appearing in that role in the 1918 release ''Tarzan of the Apes''. Griffith Park
Griffith Park is a large municipal park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains, in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park includes popular attractions such as the Los Angeles Zoo, the Autry Museum of the American West, the Griffith Observatory, and the Hollywood Sign.
